I have a toyota MR2 1990, i asked a questiona while ago about a problem with oversteer i was having. It was suggested to me that i might actually have a 1991 mr2 and the way i could find out would be to check the VIN number.
I checked my number (7a8h60k07960*****).
the 10th number (9), is surposed to show the year.. but that would mean the year is 2009.. how is this possible?

is this a us car

My 1990 celica has a L also and my 85 supra has a F
it should also have a 0=mr2 and yours says its a 4dr wagon
it should start with a JT= japan toyota fist 2#
1,2,g,k for passenger cars
engine is a 1AZ-FE=H
series=1,2,3
restraint system=0 Manual Belts w/2 Airbags and Curtain Airbags
k= camry
vin check digit ---
L should be 1990
make sure it is the vin # on the door and title if that is the real vin than it is not for that car has it been painted if so that may be to cover the fixed vin someone put on there.
i do not think that car has side airbags not in 90

look at the vin code under the hood (not the vin#)
should look close to this RA43L-BCMSSA

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

If you're looking for a transmission, I'm assuming it's an autromatic. What trim level do you have? If your car is an ST model, the automatic is the A243L tranny. If it's the GT or GT-S, then you have the A241E tranny. I hope this helps.

1 # is the type of transmission, and the other is the transmission part #.
