Okay, so Im at my schools homecoming dance and one of my friends tells me a girl that is in my class likes me. This came as a shock cause I barely knew who she was. Okay and she likes me but I dont know if I like her back. Shes a cool friend whos always happy when I talk to her and smiles. I guess I kinda like it cause I usually don't have this happen with a girl liking me and telling me. But shes not really the type of girl I like. I don't want to tell her because I don't want her to get really sad. I don't even know for sure. What do I do?

But she talks to my friends and apparently they said she wants me to ask her out

Just tell her, you would like to be friends with her. Get to know her slowly. That way you could just have a good friend in the future. Tell her you don't want to date as you are not ready for that. Tell her you want to just be friends. Be upfront and honest with her. Communication and honesty are important in any relationship.
