Because a lot of Christian people said that there's no way you can create something from nothing and I know that energy/matter can't be created or destroyed. I want to be able to explain to them about the differences

The theory of evolution describes how species have evolved and continue to evolve. The Big Bang theory describes how the universe was created.
I do not personally know one Christian who doesn't believe that either of these is plausible.
The ones you speak of will never believe you anyways, so do not waste your time. But you can ask them if something can't be created from nothing, where did God come from? If you are interested though, there are several books available on each topic.

The Big Bang theory explains what happened to space and time near the very beginning of the universe.
Evolution explains only what happened to life on Earth after life originated.

Another point is that you could mention to those who say energy/matter can't be created or destroyed is that they've learned an incorrect interpretation of the Big Bang.

The Big Bang states that all matter and energy was once condensed into a point. Therefore, the matter and energy did not need to be created because it was always there.

EDIT: 8 track mind: Does that say "If humans came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?"?

The difference is based on the fact that religious leaders purposefully give incomplete descriptions of the scientific theories they are trying to attack. Their followers, being unfamiliar with the source material, then expand and extend the bad analogies and misinformation to ridiculous levels. From that point forward there is no need for correction or fact checking because the "debate" was never rooted in facts and evidence in the first place. The whole of the theists intent is to recruit, and the thrust of the tactics used against science center around presenting evolution, the Big Bang and abiogenesis as competing religions. It's a form of Holy War against the unbeliever and again, facts and evidence never play a role in a Holy War.

evolution deals specifically with how life has changed since its inception (it does not deal with how life came to be - abiogenesis)

big bang theory addresses the evidence that the universe seems to be expanding away fairly uniformly from a specific point, suggesting that was where the universe began. there are variations on the details, but basically as I understand it, at a point when that much matter and energy would be contained at a single point (sometimes called the primal atom), the laws of physics as we know them would not apply; therefore there is no way to extrapolate what happened before that. It is presumed that this primal atom let loose all at once (such as an explosion), growing into today's universe.
big bang theory is part of a field of study called Cosmology.

I think they're two different theories on two different subjects.
The Big Bang theory attempts to explain how the universe was created.
The theory of Evolution attempts to explain how humans appeared on the Earth.
As for whether or not to believe that something can be created out of nothing (or, rather, whether or not one should believe the Christian creation story), that's an entirely different subject in itself.

The Evolution theory is how human have evolved over time (Darwin says we all come from apes). The Big Bang Theory is how the universe was created. Even christians believe that, to create the universe,God said "be" and it was.

the evolution theory states that we all first of all evolved from bacteria and stuff like that. True, sometimes you cannot create something from nothing, but that also backfires on the theory that "god" made us up..... energy and matter could be easily created when a planet forms into... well, a planet. In my opinion, the big bang theory is when a small amount a chemicals just suddenly expanded/exploded into all sorts of energy that came together and the such...... the evolution theory first says we evolved from small molecules that was in the liquid matter stuff, and then we all went on our ways and evolved into a bunch of fish type creatures because, back then, most of the planet was ocean. some creatures began to evolve to have these fin-like apendage(they found fossils of this creature, too) and slowly they began to be able to walk/ live on land altogether........... the rest, is history.....

evolution says that over time, gene pools changed and eventually formed new species. The Big Bang theory says that a super condensed form of energy/matter exploded sending energy/matter out word and creating the universe.

The Big Bang Theory is about how the Universe started.

Evolution is about how life changed (not started) as conditions on Earth changed. It has absolutely nothing to do with how the Universe started.

The Big Bang is the start of the universe. 10 billion years later the earth formed. And 1 billion years after the earth formed, life appeared. Evolution started then.
