Conviction, good, condemnation, evil. As far as how to discern... the Holy Spirit.

Conviction-to confute, admonish, convince, tell a fault, rebuke, reprove

Condemnation-To distinguish, that is, decide (mentally or judicially), to try, condemn, punish

When you convict someone of sin/wrongdoing, you are telling them what they did "You stole that car" "You slept with your neighbor's wife"

When you condemn someone of sin/wrongdoing, you punish them, you make a determination and a decision as to what they are and what should be done to them "You are a thief/adulterer and you are going to hell because of it"

The Scripture in James 4:11 tells us not to speak evil of a person and judge him, because if we do that, then we are speaking evil of and judging the law, and we become a judge of the law instead of a doer.

God is the Judge, we are not, so to tell a person that they are going to hell for a particular sin means we are playing judge, God didn't put us here to be each other's judge.

If you murder someone and I call you a murderer, the Scripture says that murderers do not have everlasting life abiding in them, so by calling you a murderer I am saying that death is in you, and who am I to "Determine" that and make that "Decision." I'm not God, I can't say that, you may have everlasting life in you, but you murdered someone, only God can judge you as a murderer.

To discern the difference is to ask how does it make you feel.

You feel bad about it, you know it was wrong, you're sorry for doing it, but you feel there is hope, you can ask forgiveness and pray that you be forgiven and start over, then you're being convicted.

If you feel hopeless about it, like there's nothing you can do, God won't forgive you, and that you're going to hell for it, then you're being condemned.

Compare John 16:7-11 and Romans 8:1-2 and study them along with the definitions of the two words

Conviction comes from as quickly as we've performed some thing incorrect (by the Holy Spirit) Condemnation comes from rejecting Jesus Christ as Savior the version? Conviction could desire to pass us to act with the awesome reaction (repentence). Condemnation may be the end results of no longer repenting (turning to Jesus for salvation) in the 1st place

Condemnation: only the Lost People (like I used to be!) will Feel "Condemnation"---the Thoughts and Feelings that you are going to a Devils Hell without GOD Almighty for Eternity.

Conviction: After you Feel and Experience "Condemnation" and you say "YES" to Jesus and get Born-Again---you become a Child of GOD and GOD uses "Conviction" on you to Keep you from doing Things that would Hurt You (like Sinning)

GOD Almighty uses Condemnation at the Right Time to HELP YOU.

GOD don't wont' you to End Up in a "Devils Hell".

I'm not a Christian, but:
Conviction is firm belief.
Condemnation is judgment.
I'm totally cool with Christians who have strong conviction but don't condemn.

Our conscience convicts us of our sins of the flesh, but
through forgiveness, we are not condemned for that sin.
Without forgiveness, we are condemned. This is why
Jesus became sin for us. He bore our reproach; Psa 69:9.
