Because being educated and knowledgable would mean you won't believe the crap. The creators of the bible figured that keeping people stupid and ignorant would make them easier to control.

Knowledge was not the sin of Adam of Eve. According to Genesis chapter three, God gave a clear standard--eat of the buffet I have provided for you, only its not good to eat from this one tree. Suddenly, what the first pair could not have became the most important thing in the world to them. Rebellion against God's right to make up the rules of life was the sin...and it is still our problem today. Humans hate authority we can see and feel and hear, how much more do we hate the invisible God's authority to pronounce His standards and expect us to follow them.

in 1 kings 3:9 solomon asked for knowledge and God said that was a good thing he asked for and blessed him with all kinds of everything else. Also, John 17:3 this means everlasting life taking in knowledge of you the only true God and of the one whom you sent forth Jesus Christ.
so I think God values knowledge.
The original sin was Satan's lie, anyway.
That was the first sin, and it went down hill from there.

REad the account> What was the first sin? Wasn't it when Satan told Eve you won't really die, in other words God lied.
When he told you you would die. He is holding back something good from you.
Think? Satan is called the father of the lie? Doesn't that make him the first liar?
That happened long before she ate the fruit and then gave it to Adam. That was the result of the original sin but not the original sin.

You have it incorrect. I have never heard of this concept of yours about knowledge being a sin. Sorry, but that is way off. The original sin was rebellion, not knowledge.

Are you tearing down straw men? Come on - at least document your question. Who says that knowledge is sin - other than you? Certainly not God or the Bible!
In the same way, I could ask you "Why do you close the living room curtains before you abuse your wife and children?"
Now, go clean up all the straw from your straw man that you built up from the vain imagination of your heart!

I thought the Original Sin was disobedience to God, not the knowledge gained by disobedience. Can we get a ruling on this? Was it the apple, or the awareness?

Knowledge is the original sin because with knowledge you find that the evidence for god is very poor.

the original sin could not have been sex, they were told to multiply and fill the earth there is only one way to do that?
The first sin think about it? Wasn't Satan lying to Eve?
You won't really die at all? Well, she did die and realized he had lied to her because later she said the serpent it deceived me and so I ate.
She recognized the first sin was the devil lying to her.

it was not knowledge that was the original sin, disobedience to God was the original sin. All sin is to do something that God has commanded us not to do.
