The Upgrade version requires you to already own a previous version of Windows either already installed on your computer or on a CD. The Full version does not. Many experts recommend not upgrading to Windows Vista on current hardware unless it is less than a year old. Often times the manufacturer (i.e. Dell, HP, etc.) don't have the necessary software for Windows Vista to function properly. The best route is to buy a new PC with Windows Vista pre-installed. Dell has new PC's with Windows Vista for $300; or you could pay $200 to upgrade to Windows Vista. The cost difference usually warrants the purchase of a new PC.

Don't even bother upgrading Vista..... If you have XP, it most likely won't run vista anyway.... why not wait till XP-2 comes out. Read some of the posts - everyone is having lots of problems with Vista.....

If you really want it to run like it should - you need a dual core processor, 2 gigs of ram and a really hefty video card - and don't forget the large hard drive... Then you'll have to change all your peripherals too...... so - take a deep breath.
