Obviously for you school is a "waist" of time, Waist in the sentence that you have used it in is spelled waste, as for measuring Fin buildings and pools it has nothing to do with the building or the pool but in the formula of the calculation. Lets say when you are an adult and you want to build a home you will need to know the measurements of the square footage of the home to find out what your contractor is charging you is totally outrageous. If you cant figure it out the builder will take you for everything that you have.

And it is measure, not 'mesure'.
You're right in one aspect, you will probably never actually need to do that. But that's not actually why they teach it. Part of learning is just a way to practice using your brain to figure stuff out. The more you do it, or at least TRY to do it- the better you become at it. So you may not use particular equations, or find the need to measure a pool. But odds are good you'll need to figure SOMETHING out sooner or later for a good reason. Working at what appears to be useless stuff now actually prepares you to do useful stuff later.

Actually, we never realize how much we learn in school, that we apply to life. I remember when I first took Algebra, I thought, I will never use this stuff. When I built my first house (I built not a contractor), I used a simple measures to Square my Floor/House/Foundation. It was Geometry using Triangles!!! Ha! I never would have thought, and built the house, owned it (Not a bank) and sold it and built another house. Something I thought I would never use made me a very simple living. But, there always McDonald's! Oh, Darn, no, McDonald's not hire a person without a high school education, but, they will hire those in school. Oh! I know, there some people on the street I know and they are happy. They dig around in Dumpsters and pickup beer cans to sell. Many of them not "waist" their time with school and are very happy.

One day, if you stay in school that is...you may actually become educated enough to land a job which pays more than minimum wage, and you may even go to college and land a job that pays enough for you to buy a home of your own. And at some point you might like to know if that big flatscreen you want to park on your livingroom wall will fit...
And THAT, my very young friend, is why basic math and measurement might (at the very least) be worth your time to learn. Stop your whining, hit the books, you will be grateful someday that you did.

If you want a low level job, then don't worry about school. But if you actually want to be something at least a little higher, you need a higher education. Plain and simple. Most of this stuff you're learning, yeah, YOU WILL NOT NEED, but if you decide to go to college, or anything pertaining to a "good" job, then you will have to learn this stuff.
Plus, if you do not learn it now, and decide to go to college, they'll give you a test to see how much you know, and depending on that test, you will go back to levels of high school learning. So either learn it now, learn it later, or work in a dead end job.

lol they always try to convince you that you DO need stuff like that- but honestly, unless you're going into one of the fields that require it, you don't. However, whether you like it or not, we're becoming a society in which if you don't have a college degree (which requires you to learn such crap) you won't succeed in life. You'll get a low paying job w/out room for advancement. It's really hard now-a-days. I didn't finish school b/c it was boring and a hassle to go to class. I have found a good job, for now, (which still doesn't "bring home the bacon" by any means, but it'll do) but if I lost it I'd be making minimum wage somewhere living off the government. It's a sad world.

You may not need to know those skills in that particular context, but you will need to know how to measure things. You would be amazed at how important the basic things we learn in school are used in everyday life. These skills are the basis for so many things. Not only that, but this is a chance for you to find out what you are interested in and do well to help you find the right career path. You sound really immature and I pity your poor teachers (although your English teacher needs to be fired!).

School teaches you the basic concepts that you may or may not use when you are an adult. Believe it or not I have had to measure my house, and if you want a pool then you may want to figure out how big your yard can handle.
Some people will use the math, others will use the history, it helps prepare you for a career decision later in life....unless you just want to ask "Do you want fries with that?"

gosh that fellow who said learn how to spell what a spoil sport. some thing can be silly like learning how to simplify square roots etc but some people may for example what to be an architect. schools cant cater for each and every individuals needs although they do the best they can like in high schools choosing subjects that best suits your aspirations etc. try think of school from a different point of view and have fun it will go quicker than you think and is meant to be the best stage of your life.

Though school being a waste of time is, of course, your personal opinion, maybe you would like to revise your train of thought.

Do you honestly believe that we attend school for no reason other than to learn how to measure the volume of a pool? We are insanely fortunate to be able to attend school, and most of us for free! Education is prized worldwide and is necessary for us to learn to function in today's society.

Maybe you despise school because of academics, but just how stupid would you feel if you couldn't even spell your own name?

Really, rethink your disposition to criticize school so plainly.
