Can you like someone you've never met.... only talked with online?

Question

I've known someone for over a year and became good friends with online. We're both over 20 and have spoken to a couple of times on the phone.
We once planned to meet up but didn't as it was too difficult to do so, mainly on his behalf. We're from different countries. Is it normal to like him or should I forget him as the chances of ever meeting are very slim? I'm not sure if he feels the same way.

it is really hard to love someone you can't be with (as in physically be with). REALLY hard; it breaks your heart.
if you really believe it can work with him and one of you would leave your country to be with the other, maybe you should tell him how you feel and then find out what he thinks. if not.. i honestly think it is not worth the pain to continue to like him and let your feelings grow, with no hope of a real relationship with him. if you can't handle being just friends with him, you have to consider being nothing with him.
it's complicated, i know, believe me. but the pain it caused me.. i would hate to think of you feeling that.
so i just want you to at least think about what i said. but in the end do what you think is the best (because i believe people should never regret doing what they thought was right at the time). good luck. you'll be okay.

you can not only like someone you can want to spend the rest of your life with them ---- if you dont feel or know how he feels about you then the connection may not be strong enough to last --- communication is always the best way to overcome any obstacles ------- best wishes

yea you can like them..but if your never going to see them ..then dont get your heart broken..talk to him,if your not sure if he feels the same way you do..you never know he might and you guys can meet..but make sure hes not like a sexual abuser or something : ]
