I hate the fact that people use the Military for the money. The military is not a job. It is some thing you do because you love your country and you want to protect her.
Don't use the Military to get girls either because let me tell you. I was in the Army I know what goes on in the Barracks, not only will you get the girl, you will also get what she has. Not a good Idea. Every branch of the military has there own group of barrack wh0res.
And gays. Holy crap you bigot. That's all I'm gonna say on that.
With your attitude with the Military I hope you do join because its the guys like you I see in the leaning front rest position all day long. You'll be an E-1 for the rest of your life but hey at least your arms will be big.
I would proudly die for this Country. And for all the Anti-Military out there. You might hate us but you might want to take us for yahoo answers. it is us that give you the right to talk sh!t to us and about us...

Little dude, perhaps you aren't suited for the military.
1 - You can't quite make up your mind which branch you want to join. Maybe you're not determined enough, especially if you have to ask random strangers on the internet.
2 - You'll find gay people in every branch, the military is tolerant of them in all ways except the cover of the book. Besides, bigotry to other people isn't permitted in the military.
3 - Do you mean the one with the most girls, the one with the best girls, or the one which civilian girls prefer? Either way, it's a poor reason. Some girls like men in uniforms, but you'll have an easier time picking up girls outside a military environment.
4 - Yes, the military is a good way to pay for college, but it shouldn't be the primary reason - it's a heck of a lot of work just to get an education

Ignoring the anti-military people out there, I'll try to give you a good answer. Don't join the military just to get money for college. If you aren't comitted to serving your country and ready to deal with the true hardships you will face during that time, I would advise looking for other sources of money for college. If you want to serve your country and earn money in the process, then the military may be a good choice for you.
Without a doubt, the Air Force has the best quality of life. Any branch of the service could end up with you getting killed ... of course, you could die in a car wreck tomorrow.
Figure out what it is you think you'd like to do while in the military and work from there. Military life sucks sometimes, but you will learn a lot about yourself and you will walk away with a different viewpoint of life if you go in. I personally would recommend the Navy or Air Force, but you need to figure that out for yourself.

BM0027 you are full of it and an Idiot
If you are looking to join the service to help pay for collage then you need to consider either the Navy or the Air Force that way you can use the GI Bill when you get out but also while you are in the Military you can take a bunch of collage class for free or little money so by the time you get out you could have your degree or at least most of it Good Luck

It's a risky choice some men have loved there experience others have wanted to shot themselves in the leg just to get out. You have to ask yourself do you mind to be told how to live your life, what to wear when to wear it and when to eat. That's just to name a few. You pretty much give up all your freedoms and rights the moment you sign the contract. If that's no problem for you then join see cool places (navy, air force) and meet cool people. But really think hard about it. Its a long 4 years.

I'm not sure what the gay issue with you is.
Remember, it is not illegal to be gay in the military, it is illegal to tell.
With that out of the way, from personal experiance, I went in the military for one reason. To get a piece of paper that said I knew how to do something. I did not want to go to college, I just wanted a decent job. I told the recruiter that and he had no problem with it. Seems most want to die for their country, or do it for patriotic reasons. I'm not putting that down, I am saying however, that that is a silly reason. A person should be looking out after their future first, not their nationalism. The nationalism is great, but the emotions that cause people to join up in the name of that gets us into bogus wars and big trouble around the world.
I joined the USAF, electronics.
After I got a job at IBM
Obviously that piece of paper meant something.
Peace
Jim

Hey, join the Navy. If you don't get seasick, you have it made! This is not a Naval war so, you should be pretty safe. Maybe you could even make it to Annapolis, best education going & you only have to give them 4 more years of your life after graduation!

first off, if your going to be in the military your going to be dealing with all kinds of people. what if you get sent to Iraq? what are you going to do, tell them you can't go because you don't like arabs?? not every gay guy is going to be hitting on you in the shower and what are you going to do if your superior officer is gay or a woman?? this is in ALL branches. you should also have a better motive than just money for college. think of what happened with all the people who signed up for that before we went into Iraq. PEACE.
