Is he really that 'undecided' or are the Ducks (ie - Burke) playing dishonorable games by resting their stars and saving cap room?

I've always thought that both Niedemeyer and Selanne were class guys but I don't trust Burke.
Why can't they just make a decision one way or the other like real men?
I smell a rat in Ducks clothing.

Good point 'puckdat', Burke does seem to be just a little bit too pissed off at MacT. (hmmm - why would that be?)

The 'suspension' might just be a poor attempt at camoflage and a weak attempt to make the other players accountable.

I've thought so in regards to Neidermeyer. Not sure about Selanne but he didn't sell his house or move so maybe it goes for both. Funny how he knew he (Burke) needed those two bodies (Bert and Schneider) and that was it. He got them awful early too. If you were seriously trying to talk either (Selanne or Neidermeyer) into playing again wouldn't you save a little room for thier whole salaries?
Kevin Lowe may have thrown a little screw into the mix on Mr Burke. Still don't know why he's pissed at the move, Philly did it last year to the Canucks so it was nothing new.

I don't.
Niedermayer is a Duck, is under contract, is currently suspended for not honouring his contract
Selanne is NOT a Duck, he has received several offers from teams (Anaheim is not one of them for fiscal reasons) and is still mulling his decision.
I'm still on the side that believes that once Niedermayer retires, Selanne will sign with the Ducks.
If Niedermayer returns to the Ducks, Selanne retires (most likely) or signs elsewhere.
The NHLPA has pegged Selanne's worth in the $5MM to $7MM range. So, if Niedermayer announces in late December (or later) he's returning, Anaheim could re-sign Selanne for fair value and both could play for the Ducks.
If Niedermayer announces before that date, Anaheim can't sign selanne without incurring the wrath of the NHLPA (collusion prevents players from signing for less than they are worth - this was put in to prevent players like Kariya and Selanne from signing for a pittance to play together - and bring salaries down)
Note: For people who do not buy this, in November 2006, the Toronto Blue Jays signed a catcher for less than his market value. The day prior to his physical, the MLBPA contacted him, and lo and behold, he fired his agent, reneged on the Jay's contract, and signed for more money to be a back-up in Philadelphia, and the Union was happy.

Might be as it seems like they have not really retired. I actually think Niedermayer was technically "suspended" by the Ducks to get his salary off the books.

Fishy? I don't know. An inconvenient distraction to the 'teammates' who'll have to answer questions about it until there's a resolution? Abso-tiveley
