Tiny Toy is the official name. The name "Teacup" Chihuahua refers to these smaller than normal sized Chihuahua's.

Well, you won't ever find one, because there isn't such a description. One, a Teacup doesn't exist except in the minds of the uninformed, which, some breeders take advantage of this type of consumer. Best to become an informed consumer, then start looking.
Chihuahuas standards state from 2-6lbs. All chihuahuas at one time or another can fit in a teacup, they are tiny when born. 2-3lb chihuahuas(when full grown) are a lot of work when they are puppies, and some can have health issues. Not to mention look like a meal to some animals and birds. You can't just put them in a yard by themselves...ever, because even at 2-3lbs full grown they are smaller then a rabbit....which birds of prey and animals aren't picky that it's a dog either. I could go on for pages...but, best for you to do your own research..;o)
P. S. Just in case you wonder..I have four chihuahuas...3 long coats and a smooth coat. Ranging in size from 2.5lbs(full grown) to 6lbs. My puppy of 6 months is inbetween the 2.5lber and the 3.5lber...still very much a puppy into everything.

There is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua.
"Unfortunately, the additional adjectives used to describe the size differences and physical appearances are many and have been misused for so long they now seem legitimate. Teacup, Pocket Size, Tiny Toy, Miniature or Standard - are just a few of the many tags and labels that have been attached to this breed over the years. The Chihuahua Club of America is concerned that these terms may be used to entice prospective buyers into thinking that puppies described in this way are of greater monetary value. They are not and the use of these terms is incorrect and misleading."-- The Chihuahua Club of America
There are only 2 types of chihuahuas, short haired and long haired. And I hope you have $300-$1,000 to pay for the dog because usually $300 is the lowest, well its the lowest i've ever seen to buy a chihuahua. Also, I'd have some money put away because they break bones easily, they can have luxation of the patella (or dislocation of the kneecap, it pops out of place, sometimes requires surgery), they are very sneaky and eat EVERYTHING which alot of times results in having to go to the vets to make sure whatever they ate isnt poisonous to them. If they eat onions/garlic/chocolate it could kill them. They need up to date shots/vaccines.
You have to think of all of the responsibilites that come with them, especially chihuahuas. My chihuahua just turned 1 year old and i've already spent roughly $2,000 on him, not including the $300 I spent to buy him.

The "Teacup" is the same thing as RUNT.
There for if you do get a Teacup Chihuahua you are getting a runt which will come with a few health problems due to tiny size. Tea Cups sometimes can be no lower than 800-900 dollars. Good Luck.

First, this is not a 'wanted' section, it's a question and answer section.
Second, there is no such thing as a 'teacup' chihuahua. Chihuahaus come in one size and one size only. The very fact that you don't know this means you shouldn't have a dog to start with.
Lastly, you cannot expect to find a popular toy breed dog for a "reasonable" price. I would not expect to see a well bred Chihuahua for less than $1,000.

They're all correct, there is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua.. if you pay for a well bred chihuahua and want to make sure he has a good health background and the chance for fewer genetic disorders, you are going to pay upwards of $900 a puppy.

sorry but chihuahuas only come in one size however they do come in short and long hair.
The ones advertised as teacups are usually runts, they are often unhealthy.
They often don't live past 5 years old due to health and physical problems.
check out akc.org for the standards.
A chihuahua shouldn't be over 76 pounds and that's fairly small, for the most part a 3-4 pound is as small as I would recommend andything smaller and you're looking for trouble.
sorry I don't ship my pups and i'm in virginia

When people refer to teacup puppies they are talking about runts breed from runts. This is such an irresponsible way to breed dogs. These "teacups" have shorten lifespans and many medical problems.
Please do not get one. Why not get a regular chihuahua?
