I have successfully completed probation in 2006, with early termination. I have recommendation letters from my P.O, teachers, manager at work, counselor. I am volunteering at the V.A Hospital. I was a minor when I committed the "offenses" however, it's a bit of a track record. I basically just stated my pros before listing my cons, as a means to avoid pre-judgement. I have ammended my life, but I have two drug charges, and a burglary charged-reduced to trespasssing. Not that it makes it any better? Will any service take me, looking for Marines. If not could I still enlist with an option 40 to go Ranger? Is there anything I can do to better my chances. Thank you and God bless you all who serve our country.

If the offenses show under a juvi court record it probably won't show up. If either was a felony charge you may be out of luck. There is such a thing as a "law waiver" when joining the Army but I am not sure of the other branches. Your offenses are reviewed by a commander in USAREC ( US Army Recruiting Command) and they make a determintaion of worthiness. Don't listen to the fools saying that we are taking anybody, becaus ewe are not. You must meet the qualifications to join and more than 40% of applicants are disqualified from joining. Talk to a recruiter and let them run the court checks to see if it shows on your adult record and what the chances are of a law waiver. Good Luck

Congratulations on turning your life around, it's not an easy thing to do for anyone.

As long as you've graduated from High School, or have your GED, and you're at least 17, the Army will take you. You won't qualify for every job available, but there's a place for you in the Army Family. Just be completely honest with the Recruiters and the folks at the MEPS station and you'll have a contract and be on your way. You may even become a Sergeant major someday, if you stay in. The Army believes in second-chances and this is definitely a way to move on.

BTW, I think there's only one Yahoo Answers site, so you need to specify which country you're in and asking about. Some of our friends across the pond get their knickers in a bunch when they think you asked a question on "their" answers site.

It would be hard for you to get into the Air Force or Navy, but the Marines will literally take just about anyone. So it's good you are looking at that branch. I would talk to a Marine recruiter as soon as you get the chance, it is by FAR your best bet to joining the military. Plus, once your out you have the GIBill to get an education under your belt and get your life moving in a good direction. Good luck!

A recruiter will have to screen your criminal records...so let him/her do that.

Currently, the military is bringing in 10-12 percent of recruits with a "morals waiver" which means they have a criminal record or something like it that would normally prevent them from being able to enlist. If your offenses are minor, they can get you the waiver to get you in.

Below is a good link

Here's the rub: If you don't come in cleaned up and disciplined, you will risk getting into trouble again. I do criminal defense for the military and a lot of my clients facing court-martial came in with the morals waiver and screwed up again. Remember...army prosecutes drug USE and not coming to work (AWOL) and yelling at your boss (Disobeying/Disrespect).

If you are really cleaned up....great. I wish you the best.

Congratulations !!!! Having committed some petty offenses, knowingly or unknowingly, while young and after paying the penalties for the same and really repenting for the same is the biggest way getting retribution in life !

Therefore your prayers for getting good chances in life would be definitely heard by God Almighty as well as Honest Dignitaries.

So continue to pray and also get someone in the top-level whom you know and who would vouch for you and who can recommend your case at he right place.

I am sure that you would be well placed very shortly if you follow my little advices and suggestions saidabove.

The only way you will know for sure is by visiting a MEPS office and giving them the same information you listed above. The references may help. Off hand, I'd say you stand a pretty good chance of being accepted by the Marine Corps !

In Canada, if you're 16 you're in.
In the United States, I believe it is 18, however you can enlist with your parent's permission at the age of 17. Good luck and God Bless your faithfulness in serving your country.

they are taking all kinds now. illegal immigrants, drug dealers, child molesters, really dumb people, its hard to find quality people willing to die for lies so they have been forced to take what they can get. im sure you can enlist.
