i am on a diet to lose less than 10 pounds, but i want this to be a new way of life so i am not thinking of this as a diet and than go back to old bad eating habits. this is a permanent way of eating. anyways, isn't that eating too much food?

Congratulations on GETTING it! It's not just a temporary diet to lose weight! It's the right way of eating for life! Remind me to give you a star.

6 small meals keep your blood sugar even. You'll see that you'll feel so much better.

It's not too much to eat. Some of these "small meals" are actually just snacks. Like a banana and a Granola bar. Or a bowl of hi-fiber cereal with berries. Or a salad of dark leafy veggies, tomatoes, raisins, carrots, and tuna. Those could be 3 of your 6 meals. About 600-700 calories? Right on track.

Once you reach your goal weight, to maintain that weight, eat your weight X15. So if you like weighing 120, you'd eat 120X15=1800 calories a day, assuming you're doing a normal amount of exercise. There are 3500 calories in a pound.

If you're a scale user, at least do it correctly. Weigh yourself ONCE a day. First thing in the morning, after you go to the bathroom, before you eat or drink anything, naked. That's your true weight.

Don't forget to drink lots of water. Good luck to you the rest of your life!! :) Oh yeah, that star.....

You do not have to follow that. If you do, look at it as 3 meals and 3 snacks. There are more diets than ever and more people dieting than ever and yet we have the fattest society ever. So a lot of these ideas about losing weight, make you fatter. Cutting calories, carbs and fats can cause you to have a weight problem for life. It is better to eat differently.

See site below and learn why meat and non-fat yogurt are so fattening. Also salt has no calories but makes you fat. It also has the quickest weight loss possible. Eat good carbs not bad carbs. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Eat foods made by nature and avoid foods made by man which are designed to make you fat and very addicted to food. Do the ninja warrior diet (not a diet but a diet lifestyle).

5 to 6 meals a day is a good balanced diet if you are eating the right foods. High proteins such as fish, chicken, and nuts...etc and stay away from a carb overload, starches, pastas ...etc the reason you eat the small meals is for your body to adjust it's metabolism. The higher the metabolism the faster you burn fat and gain lean long muscles. good luck

It doesn't matter how many meals you eat, it matters how many calories you eat.

If you eat healthy food, and not too much junk food you will have a healthy lifestyle that you can continue for the rest of your life.
