In fact it seems to me thats what an open mind is based on; it is forcinG your beliefs to conform to the evidence of reality, rather than the other way around.

i agree...

that would be like when everyone believed that the world was flat, but someone proving that it is round.

an open minded person would be able to look at the evidence and say "yes, i see."

a closed minded person would not be able to accept it. they would probably have died believing that the world was flat.

Interesting, the idea that there is a "belief space" separate from a "reality space," and a need to align them by wrenching one into the shape of the other. I think they make great music together, like rhythm and melody, or two parts in counterpoint, sometimes in discord, sometimes in harmony. Don't force one to follow the other: listen to the music, and dance.

Nature is very fickle and can be misleading with the amount and quality of eveidence that she provides. As someone (I can't remember whjo, exactly) once said, the universe is not only strange to imagine it is stranger than we can EVER imagine, as well. And I'm paraphrasing that, too.

This makes the most logical sense. Would not a God want you to seek the truth for your life and to be comforted by that truth, unless your God wanted you to suffer terribly!

I think we are parts of God if God is everywhere. I don't see any other logical choice!

How are we supposed to work "with" each other for progress if we answer otherwise? What track would be on?
