I am in the Air Force and have friends and/or family in each United States military branch. Here's an easy breakdown on what is the best branch for different people.
Air Force - Treated extremely well, top notch facilities, short deployments (6 months) and it's definately the branch to join if your looking to be a family man/woman. Also, much easier PT once you get past basic training.
Army - Treated fairly well, but your supervisors can still use PT as punishment. Promote fast, but lose rank fast for stupid things. Tend to be less adept in the services department (Finance, Housing, Chow hall, etc.) Most jobs deploy for long periods of time. If your single and dont want to be a super hardass, but still want to tote a gun around a good amount of the time, this is the perfect branch.
Marine Corps - Super hardass. Plain and simple, you WILL PT hard, you WILL deploy for rediculous amounts of time, you WILL learn to kill people in the most effective way possible, you WILL have a 80% chance of any relationship failing. This is not the branch for you if your looking to be a in a commited relationship early in your military career. Also, you will most likely shoot at a human being at some point in your career.
Navy - You will most likely be on a ship, some Navy jobs are land based, but there is a mandatory amount of time you need to spend on a ship in the navy. I'm not sure how that works out, but you will definately be on a ship. People join the navy to travel, if you consider being locked on a ship for months at time and only seeing the port city of some podunk country now and then "Traveling" then well... this is for you. Also promotes fast, and demotes just as fast. A down side that I have heard from Navy guys is the fact that they currently have like 5 different uniforms they need to maintain and be ready to wear when their supervisors say so.
Coast Gaurd - This branch doesn't have a lot of exciting aspects to it. Standard patrols, inspections of ships, the occasional drug bust if your in the right place at the right time, and a lot of rescue calls. Probably a better one for family than the navy.
Pay for the military is standard for all branches. E1 - E9 for enlisted and O1 - O10 for officers. Although most officers are out at O-4 because once you hit O-5 its mostly politics that gets you promoted.
Educational opporunities in my opinion are best with the Air Force. But this also depends on the type of job your working and the shifts they have, but the Air Force harps big time on getting your education. The GI Bill is also standard across the military. You pay 100 over 12 months and when you are done with your enlistment you recieve $35,000+ for college.
I don't know what sort of experience your looking for, but hopefully this helps you out.

air force, or the navy.
They are more well rounded then the army or marines or coast guard. The reason is they focus on mental streangth and ability, just as much as the physical strengths.
Future employers will see you as an overall strong and confident person with the military, but especially with these branches

it all depends on what you want to accomplish in the military. if you want to be for example a paper pusher join the air force. if you want to be in the water join the navy. if you want to be on the ground be in either the army or marines. they have good field training.

The AF as they treat you the best. You can complain about the shop's broken luxury coffee machine whilst the Army and Marines can't even get enough funding for ammo.
