On a criminal RECORDS check, it will not appear. No arrest = not criminal record. Depending on how extensive the background check is they MAY find a record that you were questioned. That in itself will NOT prevent you from getting the job. (I am assuming the background check is employment related.) Depending on WHY you were questioned, and the reason for the background check, you may have to explain the situation to someone.

People get questioned every day for things that go on. It does not appear on your records until you are formally charged with a crime.

It COULD.....it depends if you were listed on the report as a suspect in the case....and/or if you were "cleared." While I was in the academy, one of my classmates had an issue in his background related to being listed as a suspect in a report.
