Will going full time C.O.T , ruin the speed and excitement that we see in the old stock cars?
Or
Will they make the necessary adjustments to the COT to make it just as exciting. With it being similar to a restrictor plate race or will they make it with more speed and reduce the down force of the rear wing?
Me, I love the old car and Hate the COT.. just like the changes they made to Bristol and ruined that race this fall.
Tell me what ya' all think??????

If half on the mindless leave and they go back to what made NASCAR a great series like dumping the top 35, the chase and green, white, checkered it will all be worth it. I can only hope.
I have spent decades watching them follow the leader around Bristol and then as soon as the second place guy bumps the first place guy out of the way everyone gets mad so I was thrilled to see side by side racing there and being able to pass high or low.
One thing about the COT it is suppose to be safer and the engineers will figure the speed out.
I liked the old cars too but please there are much more a wrong with NASCAR than the COT.

I dont think that the COT will ruin anything about the racing and or the sport. There have been some amazing finishes with the COT, and some close races. Just look at Martinsville, it was a drag race to the finish between teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, and they were all over the place, bumping, and racing hard. Jeff Gordon winning the first Phoenix race, and Kyle Busch winning the first COT race ever, with him and Jeff Burton racing hard till the end. Sonoma was a great race too, with all the fuel mileage, and even though Juan Pablo Montoya won, it was still a great race. Lots of action was going on. Then Watkins Glen was a great race as well, and so was New Hampshire, and Dover. Lots of things are going good wiht the car and some need to be improved I agree. I also think NASCAR will have the teams make a list of improvements they want made to the car and then make adjustments to the COT from there so that everyone is happy and pleased with the car as they are running it full time. I think that the whole point of the COT was to reduce speed and make it safer and the slower you are going the safer you are in the car, and I think that everyone wants more downforce not less as that helps the handling of the car.
I like the old car as well because its a Monte Carlo but I think that there are pros and cons to both cars. I think that they should just take the adjustments from the COT and use them on the old car. I dont see that happening but that was just a thought, like make the drivers more center in the old car, and add more foam around the drivers greenhouse area. I think that we are all getting more used to the COT as we all realize thats its not going anywhere anytime soon.

What rock have you been living under? Some of the best finishes this year have come because of the COT (Daytona excluded). I think the COT has really proven who can drive, and who can't. The racing looks a lot like it did back in the mid 80's. No one's running away with races, almost all of the finishes are within a second, and the cars are really rugged. all it is going to take is some time on the cars, and in the seats of the cars. When the present car came out in the early 80's, everyone hated them. They sucked big time. No one would ever be able to set another track record. Guess what? They were all wrong. That car has had a long, long run, but it is time for something safer. Give the teams some time, they will be right back to setting track records in no time at all.

BTW, Bristol was an AWESOME race. It sucked as a demolition derby. That Fall Bristol race was probably the best COT race all season long. Heck, top 5 of all time. Lots of passing, no one taking out someone else on purpose, and green flag pit stops....at Bristol. That's almost unheard of in the history of NASCAR. AWESOME RACE....I LOVED IT!!!

Its not going to ruin NASCAR. A lot of the older drivers hated the current car because it was so engineering dependent. The few that were still around tended to love the COT because it drove like the cars they started with. It put the racing back in the drivers hands because it was tougher to drive. As far as I'm concerned it should be about the driver not the team with the best engineers.

You also need to remember that they have not been to a lot of tracks with it yet. Its very different than the old car so it reacts differently and needs to be setup different. Its going to take a few races to figure everything out. By the end of next season they will have been to every track at least once. They will have all these issues worked out.

I don't think they wrecked Bristol either. I don't watch for the wrecks. I want to see racing. When is the last time you saw actual passing there without having to bump someone out of the way? We saw great passing. It was a lot like the old Bristol before its latest pave job.

I've watched races since 1962 when Marvin Panch, Darrel Derringer, Fireball Roberts and the others ran Mercurys, Dodges, Plymouths, Fords, Chevies and Buicks.

For me, it's really not fun anymore. How can anybody say there is such a thing as the "Manufacturer's Cup?"

I'd rather see Ned Jarret in a '65 Ford taking a`drink of water while his team takes 40 seconds for a pit stop.

Yes, I'm "old" (56) but I'm not for "the good old days" just because.

I like the old "run what you brung." They had a rule that they had to manufacture 1000 production cars before they could put a similar one on the track. Good rule, I think. And I don't have a problem with limited the cubic inches.

The rest, though, in the interest of "parity" is pure BS. Forget what "car" they are running as they really aren't running ANY manufacturer's car at all (for example, how they all run a Ford rear-end, as an example).

The fun, for me after 45 years, is gone. While the France family has brought the sport so far, they've now gone the wrong way in the interest in "parity."

And the "growing" number of spectators NOT showing up at the tracks is an excellent example of why.

Well according to how the test results went and them having to slow the car down that is a good sign that the cars can still be fast. Maybe after this Tallagega race they can tell more about the stability of the cars at higher speeds. If they perform well then maybe they will make the necessary changes with restrictor plates next year to allow more horsepower and a more competitive style of racing. With the rear wing it should be more of a stable car.
.....I think next year will be more exciting because all races will be with one particular car and there will be no jumping back and forth. Also most teams have had a chance to close the gap on the hendricks cars so next year will be tougher on HMS as far as competition.

I think the COT will get better and in the future look for some of the "premodern" era cars(before the rolled sheet metal, the real solid cars from Detroit).
One of the things that could happen if everything goes good would bet an alteration with the restrictor plates.
See ya at Talladega.

The only thing I like about the C.O.T. is it seems more able to take some abuse and keep on rolling. Which is a good thing because for the most part it will be difficult for a driver to get away from a pack and stay safe. I wonder if maybe thats what NASCAR was hoping for? Big packs=The Big one at more tracks?

P.S. Hey Superdave.....good point but not "everyone" loves the chase. I bet myself and all but 12 of the drivers dont like it at all....

progression stinks specifically circumstances notwithstanding that is inevitable. i like NASCAR and via the low season the Aussie V-8 races are according to hazard the sole factor that avert my self-inflicted loss of life. properly, that and the NFL .notwithstanding, the automobiles you pronounced by no ability ran in NASCAR different than for IROC. Your close by short music is a great place to work out those old gemstones beat & bang however. i know working in circles seems an undemanding factor yet once you learn what it takes to flow in pronounced circles at a hundred ninety+ on the sting of administration, i think of you are able to income some new-chanced on appreciation for the sport. that is like a controlled crash for 500 miles. Yee Haa! T. Bodine in basic terms smacked the wall interior the NCTS race. each time the Onion smacks the wall it particularly is a stable day.

D.o you really think that the king France will admit that the car is faulty after having takin the credit for it. Not in this lifetime. As for changes, not for some time. The easiest way to get along with your workers is to admit you are wrong when you are wrong. I've always assumed that if you put 43 drivers in a room and asked for input, you would get a consensus on the direction to take. "Some people know it all and will always be a legend in their own minds".
