Im having pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, over baked rolls and brownie hot fudge sundaes. I want to serve something other then salad beforehand and thought soup would be great. Any soup ideas? I was thinking maybe cream of artichoke but thought that might to heavy which such a heavy meal. Thanks!

I agree with your thoughts. A "brothy" soup would be better than a "cream" soup.

Maybe onion soup, or a vegetable soup?

A french onion soup might be good?

French Onion Soup
6-8 c. thinly sliced onions
1/4 c. butter or margarine
Cook together until onions are tender, about 20 minutes. Transfer all pan contents into a crock-pot. Add:
4-5, 10 1/2-oz. cans condensed beef broth
1 soup can of water
2-3 t. Worcestershire Sauce
1/8 t. pepper
sliced Mozzarella cheese
French bread or croutons

Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours. Place a piece of toasted French bread in the bottom of each bowl. Add soup and top with grated mozzarella cheese.
For stove-top method: Cook onions in butter in a heavy stockpot. Add broth, water and seasonings. Bring to a boil and let simmer 30-45 minutes. Serve with bread or croutons and cheese.
Have a great dinner!!!

Do a veggie soup like pumpkin, squash, pea, or tomato. That way you won't wipe them out before you serve the main course. Or a mixed veggie soup with veggie broth as a base.

A lot of Basque restaurants serve pea soup as an opener for heavy meals.

I wish someone would cook me a meal like that. I have to cook the meals for everyone else, and they are no where near as delicious as that.

I would say a french onion soup. or pumpkin or pea soup. i love pumpkin and pea soup.

Go for the good stuff! This is how you really do it; the rest of those ideas are crap. Throw a whole chicken or chicken thighs/ leg quarters in a pot. Add water, a few quart packages of Swanson chicken broth, and slice up some vegetables in it. I think that's how my momma would do it, and she is a great cook. It's so good because the chicken breaks apart (you can help it along with a fork) and makes for meaty, tasty morsels, and there is lots of broth; and it tastes real yummy and natural. You can let it simmer on the stove for hours. It will be a real winner. You can check websites for recipes.

With in basic terms ninety min. i'd do some issues shop offered. Salad & cakes - purely yet pre made salad and positioned it in an extremely severe high quality bowl, and purchase cheesecake and a severe high quality sauce ( chocolate & strawberry) to positioned on it and shrink it and place chunk length products on a plate and positioned on toppings. this way all you may do is significant course and area dish. Pasta & garlic bread is what i'd do. OH do not for get a severe high quality bottle of wine for dinner and occasional and doubtless amaretto to bypass with dessert.
