Hey, Blondie. Try not living up to the "blonde" stereotype and feed your brain by researching it yourself!

The whole Bible is the true word of God, not just Genesis. The events of creation and the flood were real and have been supported by many scientific discoveries. Life had to be created by a Creator--it cannot start on it's own, either here on earth or anywhere else in the universe. Some descriptions of events, like light being made before the sun, moon and stars may have to be taken on faith as no one was there to witness them other than God but anything is possible for the Creator of all things. Many people don't understand the wonder of it, the power of an all-mighty God or don't want to and just pass it off as myth or folklore. Try a site called Answersingenesis.org for some info on the subject.
There are many scientific facts in the Bible which were not known to modern science for thousands of years...indeed, many scientists after the Dark Ages were inspired by reading the Bible to seek out some answers and understand what various Biblical passages meant which led to the Age of Reason or Enlightenment. Koeppler, Galileo, Newton, Pascal, and many other remarkable men of science credit their reading of the Bible as the springboard for discovering how God made things.

Many stories in Genesis were based or embellished by Jewish mythology and folklore and a literary device called midrash.
There are many accounts in the Bible, which employ a literary device used by Jewish Old and New Testament writers called Midrash. Midrash is the substantive of the Hebrew word darash which means to search, to investigate, to study and, also, to expound on the fruits of the research. The aim of Midrash is to draw from Scripture a lesson for the present.
Midrash could also be defined as a "reflection on Scripture in the light of the actual situation of God's people and of the developments of God's action on its history." It proposes to explain the meaning of Scripture in the light of the later historical experience of God's people. This kind of interpretation often opened the door to embellishments of the sacred accounts, anachronisms, and a freedom in handling and maneuvering the data of tradition that were at times a little too candid and certainly very imaginative.

Genesis narrates the origination of the Jewish people. There are historical information that support their origins. You may want to start with that.
