I've never heard this quote before, but I think it is right on the money.

The world needs more people who are tolerant and accepting of others, and few people who spend all their time and energy trying to change others.

I agree. In withdrawing the projection of our shadow (darkness) onto others we actually need to share and project our light with others--to contribute to the greater good. The following exemplifies this concept:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Marianne Williamson

FYI: Before I'm slammed by people telling me that it was Nelson Mandela who said this, I want to clarify that this quote has often been incorrectly credited to Nelson Mandela from his Inauguration Speech of1994. I have read the speech in its entirety, and he didn't say it. Williamson did. Sorry to disappoint all those who attributed those beautiful words of wisdom to Mandela.

Jung was WAY ahead of his time as far as New Age Philosophys are concerened. I have always agreed with this statement, one does best by others by NOT dumping OUR concepts onto others but rather, by encouraging others to follow their OWN concepts and beliefs. That does NOT prevent us from letting the others KNOW what OUR concepts are, it just prevents us from shoving our concepts down others throats and making them follow OURS over theirs.

As an Agnostic, it would be because of the fact I owed my spouse a prefer. I oftentimes in uncomplicated terms attend church do to familial responsibilities (weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc.) or to relish the form. I purely don't sense like something i've got ever heard in a sermon or mass has any direct relevance to my own perception equipment. i discover it sociologically exciting to benefit ameliorations in church ceremonies, yet in my ideas i'm constantly modern as an outdoors observer witnessing an anthropological interest very like American Indian dance ceremonies or African Animist Shamanistic practices. p.s. chuffed Easter to those for whom it concerns. i'm hoping this helps.

If the shadow is a healing shadow as a mother is to a child, it's a good one! Healing is primary, no matter what!

I have always preferred Jung to Freud..
I think for the majority it would be correct. We cannot dominate those around us, we have to let them find their own way to the solution.
