Perhaps you should try and get him involved with other children his age? Maybe some neighbours have children the same age or some family members with young children. I find children get bored when they have no one else to interact with. Also try looking for some kind of play group nearby with children in his age group, like a sport activity with other kids. If all else fails, try playing with him yourself, or even try getting a small dog/puppy for him to get his physical activity with.

My son loves to ride his tricycle and dance to music. Asking for his help around the house (like getting the mail or cleaning a table or vacuuming his room) keeps him active and starts giving him responsibilities. If he gets bored with the playground, try new locations or playgrounds in nearby neighborhoods.

Get him a soccer ball and kick it around the yard with him. I did this with my son at age 2 and now at age 3 he plays on the age 3-7 team for YMCA. Kids typically like to do what their parents are doing, so if you are active most likely they will follow in your footsteps.

I would start by making the TV and video games unavailable. If they are not there he will direct his attention else where.

As far as fun things... my kids while all girls, love to play catch, throw frisbies, kick soccer balls. Anything I do with them they love. Oh and I get my exersize in :-)
