i am atheist and i care so little about christian religion that i wouldnt hesitate a second to say i am christian if with that i would gain anything...why is that are there some atheists who claim they would never admit being member of any religion under any circumstance???
Are they giving religion a great importance when they say they would not use it for their own convenience? is an atheist who claims never admitting being member of any religion more an anti - (whatever religion) than atheist???

I have been on the wrong end of a gun and god never once entered my mind. But I have no problem with lying.

Some people believe that if you say something it is likening to believing it. If someone was holding a gun to my head and told me to admit there was a God (or Christian God for that matter) I would do it, hell I'd admit he was God if that kept me from getting shot.
This may seem unrelated but while watching the first episode of this seasons Survivor they were asked to attend a Buddist ceremony. A Christian radio talk show host was so uncomfortable that she couldn't just stand there respectfully and go through the motions. She said it felt wrong and that it felt like worship. I don't understand why she couldn't just clear her mind of it (not like she was understanding what they were doing anyway) and go through the motions. I thought it was ignorant and disrespectful. So perhaps an atheist would deny God under any circumstances for the same reasons.

your phrasing of "deny god" casts doubt that you are an atheist.
in any situation where you are ordered to do something at gunpoint, this is coercion; legal systems recognize it does not count if you are forced. Since atheists invest no more importance to your god than any similar legal situation (less, actually), I would imagine most would be pragmatic. An oath under duress is no oath at all.

Myself as an animist, I'd probably take the bullet, and let the crazy monotheist be shown for what he is.

As i'm a philosophy important, i'm going to attempt to describe how i've got come to comprehend the theist/atheist difficulty. we don't waste our time attempting to disclaim the existance of a writer, first spark, etc. there is not adequate scientific data the two thank you to assert definitively one way or the different. extremely we try to locate the logical contradictions in how god is perceived via religions. The Christianity God is omni and self reliant. I argue that if some thing is extremely self reliant, it has no dependancies. even with the shown fact that, they additionally declare that from his own will he created guy- however the contradiction lies to that end. to ensure that Christianity God to create life, he demands logic and reason, regardless how progressed and previous our comprehension that consistent with probability. i don't declare to be an excellent suggestions and as a amateur interior the section i beg human beings to disagree.

I would never say I would never say that, as no-one can know what they will do in a future (hypothetical) situation.
I would like to think that I would stand by my beliefs, but if someone pointed a gun at me BECAUSE I was denying 'god', then I'd soon be singing hallelujah from the rooftops!!

An atheist survivor-type

I'm an atheist - I didn't really understand exactly what you said, but if someone put a gun to my head and was gonna kill me for denying god, then I'd definitely lie and say I did believe lol.

I would be the biggest liar in the world- and then I would do what ever necessary to get that pig and have him/her persecuted!

just think what kind of person would be this wicked to threaten your life with a gun just to see if I'm an atheist or not!

Vick found Jesus the day he realized the amount of crap he had gotten himself into!

i do not understand the whole "threaten you with a gun to change your beliefs" idea that people have.

i am a Die Hard Pagan. You point a gun at me, and i will say anything that you want me to say. because i believe in self preservation. i will agree with the nice man with the gun to keep myself alive untill i can formulate an escape plan or untill he makes a mistake. (at which point i kill him and do not worry what religion he is or was).

furthermore i understand that the only denial of a god or belief happens in the heart and mind. and nothing that we say can change what we feel.

I really can't deny that which doesn't exist.

If you are asking if I'd lie to avoid being shot, then most likely I would. But that's a far cry from believing in any gods.

If threatened with a gun I might say alot of things that does not make them true. I would say I was the virgin Mary if that would keep me from having my head blown off.
What is the point of your question??
