Why are all (or some) of the F1 drivers coming to Nascar??
first it was Juan(im gonna wreck your a**) Montoya, now they area talking to Helio, and Danica Kirkpatrick....
Are they just bored with F1 or are they getting better contracts to drive Stock cars????
Its a " good ole' boy sport " and it should really stay that way, promote within and bring the kids up from ARCA and the Truck series.
What do you think???

I ascertain that the current influx of open wheel drivers into the NASCAR series is a direct reflection of dwindling support for other racing series while dramatically increased support for the NASCAR series has resulted in a more prosperous environment for the manifestation of abundant talent trapped in the cesspool of monotonous spectacles of motor sports racing.
Any questions?

I just love some of the answers here You really get to know that there are many that fall under I don't know but hey I will get 2 points towards nothing.
The asker needs to know that these drivers are not all coming from F1. You need to add the IRL to it and you will should like you know what you are talking about.
The person who said Erin Crocker opened the door Boy you just showed everyone what you know. Janet Guthrie probably was racing Indy and NASCAR before Erin Crocker was born and maybe you too. You missed Patty Moise, Busch regular mainly, Tammy Jo Kirk, trucks and Shawna Robertson made a go at it with Tropcican sponsor in NASCAR for awhile but just didn't have it. So nothing taken away from Erin she is a very good driver but she didn't open the door.
The Busch series was suppose to be the warm up to cup series except they let the cup guys run that too so there went that. The last I knew ARCA is not NASCAR so it's not going to be with in.
The truck series has turned into the I just can't quit make it in the cup series.
I know what you are trying to say and I know this must be the only series you know about.
This NASCAR thing has become a marketing giant and they will bring anyone who has a name to it who is willing to take on the chance to entertain fan in a circus type setting.
Your F1 driver make very good money but the is a big travel demand and you actually have to be a top knotch on your toes driver to handel these rockets so I think that is why they stop driving F1. They kind of lose there touch. It sure isn't the lack of money. They are getting up to 45 million a year and I just heard them say where Lewis was offered more than that in his contract talk.
I think it is awsome to bring in new drivers. NASCAR is not letting many drivers come in with there allowing all cup driver run for the Busch cup and the top 35 is any help either so before you get on the drivers from other series get on NASCAR for there failure to help bring the fresh young driver that are right here in the good ole USA

And Villeneuve & Franchitti. Paul Tracy gave it a go. But I haven't seen him recently - probably another race format he wasn't good enough for.

There is F1 (AKA Ferrari one), which has rules that are so obtuse that I can't follow them all, after 30 years as a fan.

Then there's Nascar - where they try to make it as open and competitive as possible. Oh - and it's the most popular motorsport in the USA.

Of course that Goold Ole Boy sport IS still what it always was, unchanged - but it's called Nascar SouthEast. It's a regional subsidiary of Nascar.

I don't think it's ALL about money. They're racers, they like a new challenge, and they want to stay busy racing. Other series' schedules are pretty sparse compared to Nextel Cup's.

And while Villeneuve and Franchitti can't be lacking in spare cash . . . sure, they'll make more money.

Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, and Dan Gurney all had a go at NASCAR racing. Should they have stayed out, since they weren't "good ol' boys"? How about Alan Kulwicki? Was he a "good ol' boy"? NASCAR isn't a peculiar regional series any more, it's a huge national series, and it's going to attract international talent. I say bring 'em on.

It's all about the money. IRL and Champ Car are languishing in their own solitudes, and there are only 22 spots on an F1 grid. There's no big money to be made in sports cars or the lower formulas. Therefore, if you want to make money driving racing cars and you are not wanted in F1, NASCAR is the way to go.

I tend to agree with your line of thinking asker---But it is America and people can do what they want!!!!.. In this case I believe its how much money Franchetti can bring into Nascar with cross over fans from Indy car and F-1. He will be driving the Haas #40 car and look how little David Stremme and that team has accomplished this year and in the past.

it's all about the money. end of story. the other series aren't drawing the veiwers or dollars because they are boring.....where else but NASCAR can we see REAL strategy, egos, tempers, fights and the drivers, at least the old school ones, aren't arrogant pampered little babies who whine if they get a little oil on their clothes. will be interesting to see how many of them can hang and will still be around 5 years from now

My main guess would be because of the publicity that is generated by Nascar.

NASCAR pays a helluva lot better, that's why. I bet in 2 years if not sooner after she starts, Danica Patrick will be the first female champ. But Erin Crocker opened the door!
