If Germany had held on to Africa and the oil fields in WWII,?

DO you think it would have changed the out come of the war. How.

It might have taken longer if it gave their Panzers more fuel to run, but the Germans were still under tremendous odds and had little chance of defeating either of the allied forces attacking them, let alone both. Oil can only go so far.

The vaunted Afrika Korps would have been stranded in North Africa after the Red Army came sweeping through the Pomeranian Plain into the heart of Germany. That Army would have already captured and neutralized the oil fields in Romania.
The only big change is that we would not have had to feed and house the 300,000 or so German troops who did surrender to us in North Africa.

Africa was a side show from the start. All it did was drain resources and supplies from the Germans. They would have been better of never to have gone there to begin with. Then when they were losing they sent in more troops, that if they would have had a few months earlier they could have won. All they did was let the Allies capture more prisoners. The Axis lost 216,000 men there, if they never did that the D-day might have been put off to 1945 instead of 1944.

what oilfields did they hold? if they had any it might have. having Africa was just more land to defend no other real benefit.
