We are hated because we bring a message of reform. Reform requires sacrifice and change. People don't like to do these things. A big part of christianity is dying to oneself. Dying to your own selfish tendencies. Dying to sin. Dying to hatred. We must become new creations, but the process involves giving up things which our fallen nature has come to cling to: immoral sexual desires, needless material wants, etc. It is far easier to be a selfish, lazy, immoral person in this life. To be truly good and pure is the difficult path. Patience, kindness, peacefulness, love, thoughtfulness, etc...these are qualities which take work and determination. Some people would prefer the easy path and don't want to think there is a better, though more sacrificing way. Tell them about the better way and they may hate you for it because it requires that they look at their own faults and weaknesses. It requires that they strive to become better. It requires sacrifice and the greatest example of loving sacrifice is found in Jesus, he died to give us the grace and show us God's way. The way of love.

I am not sure what Priests you are talking about, because the New Testament has Pastors, Deacons, Bishops but no Priests.
Jesus disciples are being persecuted, but physically persecuted in other countries than the USA. Christians are persecuted verbally and legally in the US. Y/A is full of verbal persecution, which is not that big of a deal as they can't carry out their threats.
What is happening to the pedophile priests in the US is not persecution, but punishment for breaking the law.

Seems to me the apostles were Jewish. The "gentiles" weren't in the picture until Paul went to them (see Acts 10, 13, Isaiah 65, Ephesians 3, John 10:16, Colossians etc...) in Romans chapter 15.
The battle is not between the different flavors of Christianity and divisive queries are non-productive.

There are two forces at work in the world today and they have been here from the beginning.
The force for good is represented by Christ and the force for evil is represented by Satan.
It is Christ's express calling to atone for the sins of all mankind that they might return to the Father if they would repent and follow Him.
It is Satan's express calling to provide opposition to everything Christ does, including tempting and deceiving us away from the ways of Christ.
Thus, the closer one gets to Godliness, the more effort Satan will exert against that person. So we can expect the righteous to always face opposition and persecution because Satan is trying his level best to bring down the good people of the earth. If he can destroy the good things, the bad things or weak things, will easily follow.
In the LDS church, we have seen our share of this persecution.

In the cases where individuals are, indeed, true apostles and any persecution is, in essence, the result of truly apostolic conduct, there could be fulfillment of prophecy.
However, your questions are too broad and subjective to address here.

Jesus said we must take up the cross and follow him. The Bible points to a time of great persecution of Christians during the tribulation. If you think it is bad now, you aint seen nothing yet! Christians can expect to be hated because Jesus said so. May the Lord bless you!

Honey, Catholic priests aren't persecuted because they are Christians. They are PROSECUTED for child abuse. Not all, of course, but some. Too many!
God bless!

Persecution is very important to religious groups. They feel empowered and legitimized if they have been persecuted. They wouldn't have it any other way. They can dredge up the persecution relentlessly when it will serve a purpose, such as to solidify their unity against "all those that have acted against us."

We need to feel persecuted because it justifies the sense of righteous indignation we feel when confronted with people who don't believe the same things we do.
