A friend of mine was going on about all the people (specifically males) she meets and message randomly through hot or not/Facebook. She says it's nothing serious since she is in a long term relationship (over 5 years). However, when her bf does the same thing with females, she flips out. Why do you think this is? My friend knows she has jealous characteristics in her so why do you think she feels it's ok for her to do something but not him?

Because most people don't mature to the point of having the ability to honest EMPATHIZE with other people, man I hate my spelling abilities, lets do this. You ever heard the old phrase,"walk a mile in someone else shoes", well she doesn't do that, to her everyone is differetn, scary, and beyond understanding, because to her, there nothing like her, there strange and different. This creats a double-standard mentaility, were she puts different values on her then she does on everyone else. So really she didn't have a good up-bring, chances are she was spoiled to the point were she wasn't able to feel the right about of pain to make her feel that she didn't what anyone else to feel that pain. So really you've got a selfish spoiled friend there who found someone foolish enough to think she knows how to love.... I'd leave her be... I know she might seem nice, but so did hitler, he had the same problem.... but his friends thought he was so cool, up until ww2... think about it, nice doesn't always mean right, and this behavior is actually what they call a personality disorder, were her personality hasn't formed completely, usually because she was better able to manipulate her environment to get what she want'd as oppose to manipulating herself (teaching and manipulating are a thin line, based on purpose, but I digress).
