The UN decided to sit that one out as they have the global war on terror. The want nothing to do with America.

America & her allies defeated Iraq in the Gulf War by driving them out of Kuwait. Iraq had loaded the Kuwaiti beaches with thousands of land mines in preperation of our invading that way. So General Norman Schwarzkopf decided to just go into Kuwait via Iraq. America was based in Saudi Arabia on the border with Iraq. Also before the ground invasion there was like a month straight of bombing by air.

And we also won simply because we are America & have the baddest muthas in uniform in the history of the world.

The UN gave the green light to deal with Saddam, but did nothing as far as militarily backing it up.

Gen. Norman Shwartzkopf used a page from Robert E. Lee's battle plan from Chancellorsville and swept into Iraq from the west, and had the rest of the forces drive straight at Kuwait.

Coalition forces fought on both sections of these drives, and the Allies and USA were the ones responsible for the victory, not the UN.

The UN Peace Enforcement Mission drove Iraqi troops from the Emirate of Kuwait and restored the state of things which existed prior to Iraq's invasion of the emirate. All this was done under the issuance of a UN Security Council Resolution issued under the authority contained in Chapter Seven of the UN Charter.
