The UN Security Council adopted Resolution #678 on November 29, 1990 and gave Iraq until January 15, 1991 to remove its troops from the Emirate of Kuwait.
Military actions by the UN Peace Enforcement Mission began on January 16, 1991.

We have not left Kuwait. The US Army is still there, and it has become sort of like Germany as in people PCS (permanent change of station) to Kuwait. I was there it is not too bad. The thing about Kuwait though is that a service member can PCS there or they can be there on TCS order( Temporary Change of Station) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Germany is not like that.
