Ok. Well i use Natural Instincts and its a semi-permanent dye which means it stays in for about 1 month and it washes out. I have to use that since my mom wont let me permanently dye my hair. Anyways...I really need to dye my hair but i have a swimming class everyday in school, so i'm afraid its going to wash out and bleed on everything (towels, in the pool, on clothes, etc.) I was just wondering if anyone knew if it'd be ok to dye my hair and still have swimming class without any color coming out or bleeding? Thanks so much for your information. [:

Basically my theory is (seeing as I dye my hair deep burgandy brown every other month) is that any color is going to bleed (even permanent ones) for the first week because your hair will naturally not accept all the dye. However after that you should be fine. The only catch is that since your using temp dye, it doesn't stick to the hair as well and the chlorine will cause the dye to rinse out (permanent or otherwise) much faster then if you were not swimming. Chlorine is a form of bleach and it will shorten the length of time any dye is in your hair over time, but its not going to cause it to constantly bleed everytime you swim. Try different dyes to see which one works best for your type of hair, everyone is different and your hair might hold other dyes better then some.

Also wash your hair with a shampoo & conditioner that helps retain color (i.e. herbal essance color enhancer or pantene's color line)

NATURAL INSTINCTS® Should Not Rub Or Wash Out that Way. However, It May Turn Brassy/Greenish From Pool Chemicals (AS Would Your Natural Color) So, I Would Get A Swim Cap And Use A Good Leave-In Conditioner. And Be Sure To Wash Carefully To Remove Pool Chemicals. A Good Color Enhancing Shampoo And/Or Treatment For Your Haircolor Wouldn't Hurt.

RE: If You Don't Want To Wear A Cap, I Would Definitely Use A Good Leave-in BEFORE YOU GO INTO THE WATER. And Rinse With Clean, Clear Water As Soon As You Are Finished.

Good-Luck!

maybe wear a swimming cap? if u rinse your hair good enough after you dye it, then it shouldnt bleed all over everything. use a color protecting shampoo and conditioner that should help too.
