I'm meeting my new girlfriend's father for the first time Friday night before Homecoming, and I've never had to go through the talk before. What are your suggestions?

Just because you are meeting your new girlfriend's father doesn't mean he is going to ask you that question. If he asks, just say something like your intentions are honorable and you will treat her with respect. Ask him what time you should bring her home. Tell him how lucky you feel to have her as your date for Homecoming and you will definitely have her home on time.

If your just going to the Prom, with no intentions of getting "Lucky" afterwards, then be honest. If not, then face the wrath of a dad.

PS I am one too with a daughter and I have made it clear, that when she dates, that until she is 18, If I find out she had sex, the guy is in legal trouble.

There is TOO MUCH of it now. Parents need to put a stop to it.

Well, you wanna make it clear that you're just in it for the thrills. That will put him at ease. Also tell him you have no intention of getting a real job but you heard he has loadsa money so could he help you out with a loan?

OK I'm joking. Those are the things you shouldn't say.

I usually go with:

"Well sir, my intentions with your daughter is to take her out on a very lovely evening to our schools Homecoming, enjoy a fantastic dinner at , and dance the night away, promptly returning her before ."

AKA, don't go beyond THAT night.

If he delves farther, tell him you are currently dating his daughter and you don't know where things will go, being you are still in highschool.

Be honest with him. Remember that he was a teenager too at one time and he knows all of the boy tricks and answers. This is a typical test that fathers do to find out how reliable and trustworthy a boyfriend is. Don't blow it.

be polite(but don't suck up fathers hate that)
don't let him see you're nervous
be honest when he ask you questions(parents like honesty)
don't mention anything remotely related to sex(that will always cause a bad ending)
don't sound too excited to be going out with his daughter
remember to stay calm
