Why is the Christian Bible based on the teachings of Christ? Seems self-explanatory.

Christianity is based on the teachings of a Jewish man simply because Jesus was Jewish. Do you need any other reason?

It appears that the intent of Jesus was to reform Judaism, not start a separate religion.

Jesus was Jewish as you stated. However when his followers grew in numbers he was outcast by the Jewish leaders of his time. His followers also were outcast. It is my opinion that after his death the people who believed in what he did and said decided to go a different direction then the typical Jews of that day and called themselves Christians using part of Jesus name. The ian is added like ish is added to Jew to make it Jewish or ism is added to atheis to make it Atheism.

Because Jesus, as the son of God, is the fulfillment of the promise God made to the Jews, that he would send them a Messiah, who would teach them the way to salvation. This is what Jesus referred to when he read from the book of Isaiah. Jesus was raised as a Jew, but was sent to bring salvation to all who believed. One of the reasons that the Jews rejected him was because they didn't want God brought to the gentiles. Jesus also planned to bring his message to the pagan Romans, and the elders feared that this would cause too much trouble for them.

Christianity is the completion of Judaism, it is not seperate from it. Those who are now Jewish are those that did not follow it to its true destination by following the messiah.

"The opposition between the spiritual and the religious is a major theme in Jewish philosopher Constantin Brunner's work. He contends that Judaism is essentially anti-religious, stating that "Judaism as a spiritual doctrine is the opposite of religion and a protest against it", and culminates his argument with his own translation of the Shema: "Hear O Israel, Being is our god, Being is one". He juxtaposes priestly and rabbinical to prophetic Judaism, stating that the latter represents the true mystical essence in opposition to the former which represent superstition.

For Brunner, Jesus represents the greatest representative of what he calls die Geistigen, the people of spirit. Brunner's doctrine of the people of spirit is essentially a doctrine of genius. Thus he argues that Jesus is the greatest of geniuses. He argues that Jesus' conception of what he calls "the Father" corresponds to what Brunner calls "das Denkende". This is translated in his book, Our Christ, as "the Cogitant". It corresponds to the formless, imageless essence of being which we attain to through mystical apperception. The spiritual elite are those who have a clear apperception of this essence.

Most people have little or no ability or desire to work toward this clarity, adhering instead to a view of the absolute based on their sense impressions. For Brunner, Judaism is an anti-religion, a protest against religion with its absolutizing of the relative. Jesus is the purest example of this protest, living as he did completely within the clarity of his mystical apperception."

Brunner contextualizes Jesus' execution in his doctrine of genius by showing how the leaders of the people have consistently acted throughout history to silence geniuses. Brunner expresses the hope that his doctrine, by making explicit the distinction between geniuses and the religion of common people, will at last end the war between them. Geniuses will stop trying to turn common people into geniuses, and common people will stop trying to turn geniuses into common people.

As for Christianity, Brunner sees it as a process of distortion by which Jesus becomes de-Judaized and divinized through the massive influx of Gentiles. Finally, he calls for Jews to reclaim Jesus as their own highest exemplar, stating that "Christ was the embodiment of Judaism."

Because Christianity and Judaism are part of the same drama unfolding....

God create...man disobeys...
God gives man Law to live under (Torah, Judaism)
...man unable to live perfect life...Law can not redeem...
God walks as a man....God pays the price....God conquers death... God promises He will return.

The only real break, is when man stopped living under Law, and began to live under Grace. Want to know more...write back.

because being Jewish is an origin. it is an ethnic background not just a religious way of life. like being Irish or Italian or whatever. being Christian means you believe in Christ. there is not the contradiction you are looking for.
