12 and 13, well, then, I guess the direct approach is out, huh?

First, I think that at 12 and 13, you are WAAAAAY too young to date! Been there, done that, and have kids who didn't make those mistakes!

Gee, I don't know, it's been a while! Why not just ask him?

I'm not a Mormon, and hadn't even met one until 4 years ago, but every experience I have had with one has been very positive. These are good family people, generally giving and dedicated.

Before, i had heard in the media the stories of polygamy. But those are just a radical sect of mormons that are not really a part of the church of latter day saints. And the South Park episode where they made fun of how stupid Mormons were.

It doesn't connect well with my own personal experience though. The Mormons I've known were pretty intelligent, in fact one graded on law review at his law school.

I just don't know whether or not they are obligated to only marry other mormons.

Sounds like this is very important to you. You should hope that he's Mormon, they are usually very respectful of women. If you do start dating, encourage him to live the standards he has been taught, you both will be happier for it. Whether or not he will be allowed to date now is something that differs by family, some are more strict on the matter than others. Don't stress on it, if he can't date yet then he's most likely worth waiting for. And a side note for you... don't be in such a hurry to grow up, you may find yourself with adult problems at a young age.

I think the easiest way would be to ask if he dates. I was mormon at that age and I did date. I think its a personal thing so just go up and ask him. Good luck!

Well i live in Utah, I'm not LDS, but most people here don't date till there 16. So maybe his parents won't let him date until he's 16. But it all depends on how religious he is and his parents. Hope it all works out and good luck.

even though it isn't doctrine, it is advised for young men and woman of the LDS church aka mormon not to date until they are 16, usually dating other members of their church.
