I want to lose 23 pounds and lose five (or five 1/2) inches off my waist. Can somebody give me tips on how to do this? Also, after I lose the weight, how can I tone up my thighs (legs), arms, and abs?
I will be greatly appreciated if you can give me exercising tips. I'm not sure if I should jog, run, bicycle, idk! lol.

There are specific exercises to focus on a smaller waist.
Sit ups is an obvious choice, but be sure to keep your knees bent, with toes tucked under, for example, a sideboard or bed. Better still, come up to the "half" sit up position, and hold it for as long as you can. Remember though to again keep the knees bent to avoid potential lower back strain.
At any time you can work on the toning of tummy muscles by pulling your abdomen inwards and upwards. You can continue to breath normally as you hold this position.
Combine a lower calorie intake with regular repititions of these routines throughout the day.
Jogging is a good idea, but not on tarmac or concrete, even with fancy priced running shoes, and especially not when above your ideal weight. The joints and internal stuctures of the body are simply not up to all that hard surface impacting.
Buy a decent pair of off-road shoes, and go for a few runs in the forest, away from the trails. Trees are much easier and more interesting to dodge than cars, and is significantly more satisfying to feel clean air glide over your your body, than exhaust fumes.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

well the obvious answer is Diet AND Exercise. Cut out the carbs, sugar and junk food. Eat protein and vegetables and salad - a very basic diet. That is the building blocks for muscle. I'm assuming youre a female considering you're so concerned with inches off your waist and toning thighs and abs.
If you're female, don't worry about getting huge. Provided you're not taking steroids, theres no chance of becoming body builder huge. After dieting properly and taking a good multivitamin, I would recommend running on a treadmill for cardio a few times a week and then weight training with weights all over. break up your routine so that you don't over use one set of muscles. So run on monday, upper body on tuesday, run on weds, lower on thursday, rest on friday... etc.
Make sure you don't combine aerobic activities with anaerobic ones - like don't do massive reps with weights like the common myth is. Do a max of 30 reps with any machine. Any more than that could become aerobic and thats not the point of the exercise. Anyone who tells you massive reps is giving you outdated information that could lead to injury.
Best Regards.

The first thing you need to do is evaluate your diet. Count the number of calories you take in on a daily basis for a few days to get an idea of how many calories you are taking in. (Remember to count the calories in the butter on your toast, jelly, cream cheese, etc.) Portion control is the key. Read the serving size on the foods you eat and adhear to them as best as possible. Depending on the number of calories you are averaging you can start by reducing that number. (Approx. 3500 calories equals 1lb. but if you reduce you daily intake by say 100-200 or more calories a day which is easily attainable by the end of the week it really adds up. Start slow. By adding cardio into the mix this will help reduce your weight faster by incorporating diet and exercise. As far as cardio goes if you enjoy running. Run, Biking. Bike. I get bored with cardio so what I do is about 10-15 minutes of Run, 10-15 min. Bike, 10-15 min. Elliptical, etc. I go from one to the next without letting my heart rate drop. Participate in a Spinning Class or some group activity where you are surrounded by others that will motivate you to push yourself. One thing I find helps me in losing weight and keeping me in check is that I eat a pretty strict diet throughout the week and 1 day out of the weekend I'll eat a couple slices of pizza, however I will still do some sort of cardiovascular activity that day as well. It gives me something to look forward to. Add weight training into your routine to help tone those problematic areas, Thighs (Lunges, Ball Squats, etc) Arms (Bicept curls, Tricep pushowns, etc.) Get together with a trainer if possible to show you how to (depending on your level of exercise experience) do some of the different types of exercises associated with toning those areas. Some gyms will have a trainer show you around and give you exercise ideas and how to properly perform them assuming they are legitimately certified. Hope this helps

You need to eat 3 low cal healthy meals a day with a high protein snack between each meal and before bed to keep your metabolism high and your blood sugar level. Any exercise will help you lose the weight so long as you BURN more calories than you take in. To lose inches do some abdominal exercises. You can find thos on the web.

Walking is the best. Burns the same as running, just takes longer to get there, and doesn't damage the knees. Swimming is good, and bicycle is great. Actually, the best is to alternate. A different exercise everyday. Don't drink sodas and count your carbs.
