Even Christians still have a sin nature. Sometimes it gets the better of us, and some of us never grow up. Don't let the idiots turn you away from Christ, because they don't represent him even if they say that they do.
The main difference between a christian and an atheist is that the Christian has been forgiven. Some people seem to think that we are now good enough, and that everyone else is a scumbag. We are never good enough. Being forgiven is the only thing that will ever keep us out of hell.
I would like to invite you to be forgiven.

Look you're right. I see what you're saying. It's not fair. From my point of view God created atheists too. The Bible says that humans were created just a little lower than the angels,
which would include all people and of course, atheists. You know on Star Trek you have all kind of intergalatic people and some just seem totally repugnant, like the Klingons. Not doubt people will chime in I love Klingons, I love the Borg, I love Darth Vader, etc. That's not my point. Sometimes we hate without thinking, unfortunately. It turns my stomach inside out to hear a parent tell their young precious child "there is no heaven." I've heard this before in public, it makes me angry and it makes me want to puke. They probably have grand parents living, the child will wonder about their own parents mortality sometime, etc. Honestly, it's not so much the person who is atheist, but their viewpoint that just makes us want to huck and for you and other atheists the feeling is mutual toward us who believe. We should treat each other with respect. We should be tolerant. I'm not talkng about tolerance about crimes against society, but about viewpoints that
strenghten society. There is value in questioning God's existence. His existence should be questioned, that develops a healthy appreciation for what you believe. But I don't believe anything goes, either. Some things are not healthy, though we are forced to be confronted with it. Pornography, for example. Sex with a minor. These are things some people feel we should legalize. From our tradtional backgrounds in the Bible we are taught this is wrong. A lot of what we consider right and wrong is from the Bible. How could we defend society against some things that are bad for it if there's no book like the Bible to say "It's just wrong." So when you say you are atheist a believer also feels like you are saying you believe in anarchy because by what logic are we going to say there is an ultimate guideline for behavoir that a majority of people will accept?

I am Christian, and I know one boy in my history class who is an Atheist (how ironic, he goes to a Catholic school). In history, we speak a lot about religion. I never thought he was a bad person for it. I thought he was actually pretty funny. But whenever religion comes up in discussion, he always raises his hand and says something negative about Christianity. A lot like, "Well, if God is real why did this this and that happen" or "But it's impossible to create an earth." Things like that. How is a Christian person to feel when an Atheist says that. I mean, I don't go up to Atheists and say "Hey, stop believing God isn't real, how else did we get here?"
It's wrong to preach to Atheists about how God is amazing and all powerful. But it's also wrong to talk to a Christian and explain all there theories about how the world was truly made, or how it is impossible to live after death.
Both are wrong. It's not just Christians who preach, though.

Because atheists follow their path in life. They do not follow the so called ways or rules of god. They smoke drink take the lords name in vain you name. I'm sure and atheist has done it all somewhere, somehow. And done it without regret or fear of whats to come. On the other hand some Christians follow the lords word to the letter and fear what is to come. They constantly worry about their final distention. I find that rather sad that a person would live their lives in the hope of something better when they pass on. After all no one has every come back and reported how things are on the other side. Either in heaven or hell. In a twisted sort of way god and religion are the biggest dictators in the history of mankind. More sins and deaths have been committed in the name of god then any war on a global scale. And all the while the atheist goes on there merry way without a care in the world when it comes to god and life after death. Things that make you go HHMMM !

Whoa. You go from "people" in general to one person's post?
People don't "always assume" atheists are bad, and you shouldn't ALWAYS ASSUME so by what you see here.
The vast majority of religious people won't be found on these boards. They don't give a rat's *** what other people believe. Not really. The vocal minority are here out of pure boredom.
Besides, I've seen atheists baiting religious people here just as often as religious people have baited atheists. If you haven't seen that, you haven't been here long enough.
Are you saying because atheists don't believe in God, it's "more OK" for an atheist to be nasty than it is for a member of a religion? It's all right for you to have lower standards?

I've known some rather angelic atheist and demonic devout religious people. I've never seen a connection between faith or lack thereof and good/evil. The things about Christianity is that it requires a faith based certainty, and when you're that sure of yourself its hard to be respectful or understanding of those with opposing views.

Indeed thought provoking comments, Well Religious people think they are on right path rest are wrong, when you compare religious people with atheists, you'll come to know that atheist is because of scientific reasoning while religious person follows blindly, probably thats why they are unable to think outside of their "religion's sphere" while atheist can easily understand things, can come up with logics and reasons.......so religious person thinks that atheist is against my faith then he/she will attack of course verbally :)

Well I don't believe in any gods (I'm sick of the a word) and if I meet a christian who spouts all their religious rubbish face to face with me they are going to be proven right. I'm not allowed to say it on here, but they're gonna be in *big* trouble they do my head in...and I *hate* being preached to.
I'm not gonna get the 10 pts now am I? YA is making me start to really hate religious people - they're so sanctimonious...

Congratulations, Theophilus. You are exactly what this poster is talking about.
You aren't "speaking truth". You are expressing your deep contempt for anyone who disagrees with your narrow idea of what your own book says.
A person does not need a religion to be moral or ethical. A person simply needs to be taught what is acceptable behavior and what is not. A big, scary, sky fairy with a bat labeled "Hell" is not nessecary.

For the same reason they assume the same things about some Wiccans and Pagans.
Those who do this do not understand that a person can be good EVEN IF that person does not believe the same way they do.
