Halloween is "All Hallows" (All Saints) "E'en" (Even or Vigil) - the night before All Hallows Day (The Feast of All Saints). You better believe that I will celebrate BOTH days with Christian zeal!

You probably see nothing wrong with celebrating Easter & Christmas.

Easter was a Pagan holiday that celebrated the Spring Equinox. The name "Easter" came from the goddess of fertility known as Ostare. - Christians have sence stolen this for their own.

Christmas has Pagan origins also. In ancient Babylon, the feast of the Son of Isis (Goddess of Nature) was celebrated on December 25 - a celebration of the Winter Solstice.

Christmas caroling was derived from an ancient Roman tradition in which costumed singers and dancers called "Mummers" traveled from house to house entertaining their neighbors. Dies Natalis Invicti Solis (Birthday of the Unconquered Sun) was the name of the holiday celebrated at this time.

The word Yule means “wheel,” the wheel being a pagan symbol for the sun. Yule was symbolic of the pagan Sun God, Mithras, being born, and was observed on the shortest day of the year. As the Sun God grew and matured, the days became longer and warmer. The Pagans would light a candle to encourage Mithras, and the sun, to reappear next year.

In the year 350, Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25. This was done to ease in the Christian influence without stirring up too much trouble amonst the Pagans.

Halloween (all hallows eve) came from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This holiday marked the time of harvest in which the Celts would light bonfires, make sacrifices & pray for good fortune throughout the coming winter.

The Halloween we know is much different than that of ancient times. It's prefectly fine to celebrate, dress up & have a good time.

Anyone who says different should really do thier research.

Happy Halloween!

So glad our community can come together for a fun celebration of Halloween. So many people, have decided to no longer participate, either a religion issue or other reasons. But to the Christian people, I want to say, I am glad some participate. I think Jesus would say it's wonderful to give, help, and love the children that come by. He said, Matthew 19:14 Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of "such is the kingdom of heaven."
As I was watching the children play, spook, tease, dress up, and encounter other children.... it gave me a warmth of love that each child is representing their like of characters, their personality. Not every holiday can express their hearts, fun and love for each other. I saw children give candy to others, and share. I saw parents proud of their children, show them off to have fun in the community. If the kingdom of heaven is having fun, innocent, giving, loving, and caring... I want that also. So lighten up Christians and think about what can happen great on Halloween, instead of all the history, pagan, spirits, etc... whatever floats in your heads.

How could it be wrong unless you've constructed a secret room in your basement, painted all the walls red, hung a goat's head from a crucifix and worship the Halloween Demon every October 31st? It seems to me, the way you celebrate Halloween is more a traveling dress-up and candy-hunt party rather than anything un-Christian! Go out and enjoy yourself!

My mom became Catholic, my father became a Nazarene. all individuals young ones participated in Halloween. It became between the funnest nights of my existence and nonetheless is. I enjoyed attending to be something i needed for one night. I nonetheless take part in Halloween with my niece and nephews. Halloween is no longer seen a pegan trip. that is mutated into in basic terms a chilled day young ones get unfastened candy for donning captivating costumes. that's how i might clarify it to you young ones in the event that they ask, yet opportunities are high each pal they have or would have participates and that they gained't even question it. I consistently felt sorry for infants that did no longer get to connect interior the relaxing, think of how ignored that they had experience. i know some church homes have their very very own Halloween festivities the place young ones can gown up as stable issues like angels. i think of that's extra hypocritical than allowing young ones to flow trick or treating. it would be all or no longer something.I coach the infants approximately God and Jesus, they know how i've got confidence with regard to the commercialism of Christmas and Easter as I threw the hugest slot in Walgreen while they have been choosing out easter baskets and appearing like it became Christmas. in addition they know that Holloween is in basic terms an afternoon of relaxing.

I think it depends on whether or not you interpret the Bible literally. It does say that Christians should abstain from all appearance of evil, and unfortunately, some people do use Halloween as an occasion to glorify evil. There is nothing wrong with make believe and having fun, as long as it doesn't go too far.

Halloween is a Christian holiday and tradition. It has nothing to do with the celebration of Samhain. Go ahead and enjoy it.

Trust Father K. on this one! It is a surprise that so many supposed Christians are not aware of what this holiday is. I guess it is because it was from the Catholic church.

I have no idea why people think that pagans would worship Satan or honour his birthday. Satan is a Christian god, not Pagan.

When you understand the origin of where it comes from would you still celebrate it or have anything to do with it? I used to celebrate it, especially as a kid, but now that I know more of what the Bible says and what the origin of Halloween is, I am surprised more people don't see what is wrong with it, at least for those who are Christians. Same with Christmas and Easter. They all come from pagan origins and at least for Christmas and Easter, they are pagan celebrations but are disguised as Christian holidays. But back to Halloween, would God be pleased if those who were His were celebrating something that was associated/promoted/supported witches, witchcraft, and other things that are dark (and I don't mean physical darkness but spiritual) and evil? You can't be both a friend of God and a friend of the world.
In the early church when the Romans were trying to get the Christian to celebrate their pagan celebrations (which later became Christmas), they wouldn't allow it or anyone who was part of the church to have anything to do with it. They wouldn't let it in at all. I am also ashamed I used to celebrate all three, but I have repented of it. Now, many celebrate it because of ignorance, not knowing the origin or what the Bible says regarding such matters. And the Bible does say not to have anything to do with paganism or idolatry or witchcraft or the other forces of evil which you find deeply hidden in these accepted holidays. One example is that the Ephesian church burned all their scrolls (which cost tons of money) of sorcery. That is similar to what I am talking about. Getting rid of something that goes against God, no matter what.

If people still want to celebrate it, that's their choice. I choose not to, to try to be right with God and have nothing more to do with the ways of the world, as God grants me spiritual growth and maturity more and more.

hallween actually started out as a christian celebration rather than pagan. hallow e'en (holy day)(holiday) it is a secular day either all souls or all saints but can't remeber which you should not dress up and eat candy that is purely american comercialisation of it. to celebrate in the proper sense then go to a church and remeber you ancestors. in the proper way. but have fun to with a feast for the family its what we do.

If the intent is to participate and be happy with your neighbors and others, there's no harm. In fact it's a good thing. G-d wants us to live life and be part of it (a positive part). I think Hallowe'en is awesome (though I could live without the ginormous blowup displays on lawns, etc.)
