If Jesus was God made flesh, and God sacrificed himself for our sins, does that mean that God is dead?

How can it be a true sacrifice on God's part if Jesus's "death" was only temporary?

Jesus did die for our sins, however to give us victory over death, He rose from the grave. We would have no hope if Jesus was still dead. You cannot serve a dead King.

Jesus Christ, the son of God did have his blood shed as we see when the Roman officer went to check whether those crucified were dead yet. He was surprised to see that Jesus was already dead so he put his sword in Jesus' side and we are told that out came blood and water. The water it seems would be as a result of his lungs filling with water because of the way he was hanging. Also, the nails going through the hands/wrists and feet would have bled. If anyone has the imagination to think about the anguish Jesus went through when he was praying in the Garden before he was arrested, for we are told that his sweat fell as drops of blood. This was a dreadful experience that he had to go through and although he had told his disciples what would happen they didn't even understand let alone sympathise. Jesus had a crown of harsh thorns rammed down on his head and he was beaten, blood shed there for sure. When Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection they were able and encouraged to touch him for he told them that a spirit doesn't have flesh and blood as he did. Later Thomas was also to see Jesus and feel the wounds. Atonement: at-one-ment, that is being at one with the LORD God through our baptism in water into the saving name of Jesus. Jesus has redeemed true believers by his shed blood which we, as a church/ecclesia, remember in bread and wine each week together. If we wish to be in the Book of Life we must try and obey God and remember His son. Resurrection was the proof of all that the Old Testament Scriptures taught. That was why Abraham trusted God for he knew right back then that God could do all things.

Jesus was a part of God, but he was not the ENTIRE God. Presumably, the Father/Spirit portion knew that the Son would be resurrected, but the Son didn't know that, so he made a genuine sacrifice.
So the sacrifice was made by the Son-portion-of-God, not the entire-entity-of-God.

The human body God took died, but God himself did not. Like your body and soul. Any way the sacrifice was in the torture and the pain of crucifixion, not his life.

I do not believe in God, but I think Christ and his teaching were of the highest.

How can any mortal pain even slightly affect a supposedly "infinte being?" Do you feel pain when a single cell in your body dies?

Remember, supposedly Jesus/God sacrificed himself to save us from his own wrath over an arbitrary set of rules he made up.

If that isn't insanity, I don't know what is.

Have you read the accounts of Jesus' death? Even if you're going to be resurrected, it was a horrible way to suffer and die.

It was a real sacrifice - full payment of sins. He is also showing that We all can be ressurrected and ascend to Heaven.

Well put. It was turned into the pagan blood ritual analogy by those not understanding the psychological symbolism of ego death/rebirth of the authentic (Christ) Self.

Jesus played the stuntman...

He was told that the nails were CGI-ed, so he wouldn't die.

Yes, Christians, you've been deceived by Heavenly Light & Magic....Jesus didn't die, so this sacrifice thing? A scam to make money out of fools.

Enjoy.

It was a sacrafice because he didn't have to go through all the ridicule, torturing, whipping, and crucifying if he didn't want to. I would consider that a sacrafice, because if he didn't we'd all be going to hell and not even have a chance at heaven. And God's not dead. God will be forever. :-)
