Absolutely.

Bob Hite and Alan Wilson were not only blues players, they were well respected blues scholars with incredible collections of blues 78 (long before widespread reissue programs).
Alan was also an incredible (and incredibly underrated) harp player.

Rod Piazza, one of the premier harp players past or present, told me a story twenty years ago about being upstaged by Alan at the famous Ash Grove. In his words, "I decided right then no one was going to cut me again".

Blues/Rock/Boogie
Canned Heat is a blues-rock/boogie band that formed in Los Angeles in 1965. The importance of the group lies not only with their blues-based music, but with their efforts to reintroduce and revive the careers of some of the great old bluesmen, and their improvisational abilities.

sometimes.

some of their music can be seen as true blues others can be more rock. The line is not always clear with them as with many other musicians in their time: Jimmy Hendrickx did blues, so did Led Zeppelin, and CCR, and so many many more. Their greatest inspiration was blues music which shows through in their music

Certainly.

I just saw them this weekend and they did a tribute to John Lee Hooker and said he was instrumental to every member.
