2 houses down from my new home is cable to the pole they currently use. Can i hire a contractor two run the needed wire since the cable company won't? Rural area.

I am only speculating about the circumstances of your serviceability, but if you live in a rural area, most likely the pole that is 2 houses down is more than 300'. Any RG-11 drop longer than that will not provide you with quality service, so if the cable company knows that they can't provide quality RF, they won't service you, and you would be disappointed if you spent your own money on a contractor for sub-par service.
If the pole that is 2 houses away is the end of the line, a plant (fiber) extension could be done to make your home serviceable, but that is costly (several thousand dollars), and if they cable company knows they would never recoup the investment from the limited amount of potential customers they would gain from that extension, that is why you would be told "no".
Again, don't know about your individual circumstance, but this is a common scenario for rural areas.

I think that would not work. Think of asking the power company to run the wires for the phone company...........they wouldn't do it. Getting cable in rural areas can be tough and costly, but it will come in time. If other new homes are built near you it will speed things up. Good Luck!

You can talk to them about hiring a contractor but they may not go along with it. Most cable companies subcontract for this kind of work anyway. The distance of two houses, unless they are really far apart, doesnt seem excessive. Have you thought about a dish. Many of them are cheaper than cable for more stations.

in most areas you will have to cross others prop, but it is up to them to say yes or no. ask the cable company to provide you with the necessary wire and you will have it run .
try dish or direct as they need no cable other then that in your home

Go with a dish provider. If the cable company valued your business they would provide it, right? After all they advertise in your area, right?
