My problem was related to the types of grains I was eating. I'm assuming you're eating whole grains. Some of them actually stop me up. Like Metamucil and Benefiber. Weird that something that is supposed to help can make things worse.

One thing that helped me was eating different fibers. I eat Go Lean Crunch by Kashi. It should fit well in your diet. One serving as 32% of the daily recommended fiber intake, and 5g of that is insoluble fiber (the stuff that really gets things moving). It tastes like Honey Smacks cereal. My husband prefers it over Raisin Bran Crunch (it's not as good for you) and it was his favorite cereal before he married me. One bowl of the Go Lean on a day he forgot to tell me to buy his Raisin Bran Crunch was all it took.

Also, the types of fruit can really make a difference. Citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, etc) tend to have more fiber. So do apples -- eat the peel for the best results. Berries are awesome. Just toss a handful into your Go Lean Crunch or some yogurt. (Blueberries are my favorite) Pears are OK. Bananas have the effect of stopping you up. They are recommended to people who are just getting over a bout of diarrhea.

Tree nuts would make a good addition, if you're not allergic. I found a chart the other day comparing fat, calories, and omega 3 and the three that came out on top were Almonds, Walnuts, and - surprisingly - Pistachios. I used to make a trail mix with Walnuts, Pumpkin Seeds (without the shell. Health food stores have them), Cashews, and some dried fruit. It just depended on how sweet I wanted it to be.

I'm sure you're drinking enough water. I'll give you a site so you can calculate exactly how much your body would need each day.

One other thing that can cause constipation is stress. Make sure you have relaxation mixed in with your exercise program. It can help your heart stay healthy and can also help you sleep better at night.

You may want to try buying some millers bran and eating that. If you are eating lots of fruits, grains and veggies that is a tough one though. Are you drinking lots of water? That can help too.

One of the responders gave good, immediate, advice...coffee. It is a stimulant and will help things move along. Long-term, any new exercise routine is going to drain you of more water than you are used to. That is the normal cause of constipation. Try a couple cups of coffee the first day and double your water intake thereafter. Your diet sounds fine. Good luck

You can take fiber and make sure you drink a lot of water. If that doesn't work, use Kombucha, it will not only balance out your body, it will help you lose weight.

You need more fiber: You can try Metamcil either in waffler or powder form.
There are also several different brands which are basically the same as Metamcil you can try.

you should eat things that create gas such as beans, cauliflower and stuff of that sort and later your body will get used to it and you won't have to do that anymore
