I don't know if this is normal, but since lately I've begun taking an interest in boys, and I'm afraid of what my older friends will think. I mean I have friends from ages 4-80, and I'm worried about the older ones. For all they know, I think boys are gross, and I'm afraid to reveal to them that I'm not in that mindset. I'm just afraid they will think of me as "just one of those teenagers". One that conforms to the typical stereotypes for teens. I mean I want them to still like me for who I am, and not think of me any different. Plus, it always seems that they don't understand when I talk about those things. I don't know if I'm really making sense to you though.. lol If I am, please help! I want to know if this is normal, and how can I fix it?

Aww bless ya. I (and most the population) felt this way at some point. Your older friends/family etc probably allready know that your beginning to be interested in boys. When i was about 14ish my family and older friends would ask jokingly if i had a boyfriend/crush... and i got dead embarrassed and just denied it continuously (even though i did :s). Then i reached 18 (which is how old i am atm) and i was with my bf for bout 3 months and decided it was time to just say it. Sure you will always probably get the odd embarrassing comment from someone at first. But as soon as they get used to the fact that your interested in boys, they won't a second glance at it, promise! Wish i had gotton it over with when i was younger lol. They won't think ANY differently of you, it's like your period, just one of those things that has got to happen i guess.

I'm not sure what you're really trying to say here. Yes, it's okay to have friends or be friendly with males of any age, and it doesn't necessarily imply any sort of romantic/sexual interest.
As a teenager, it's perfectly normal and healthy to develop a romantic interest in boys your own age, and any adult will understand that. It's okay to mention to your 80-year-old friend that you have a crush on a teenage boy - he was a teenager once too and will understand. The 4-year-old will probably have no idea what you are talking about, but that is probably true of a lot of stuff you say to him.
Don't worry too much about how other people see you. There will always be people who don't understand you or think you are too (whatever), but that's just their perspective. Anyone who truly cares about you will try to understand and accept you, no matter what you tell them. Just be yourself and don't overanalyze.

Laurel you are one of my best friends. Why don't you ever tell me that you are afraid of what people will think? Laurel, no one is going to judge you, trust me. I mean people know i like boys and they don't treat me any different, and i am only a year older than you. People just think that it is normal for girls to go through this, or at least that's what my mom told me. You should really talk to me about this stuff becasue I can help!

I understand you perfectly.I'm going trough the same thing.
It is true that you have to make some sacrifice to keep other people around you happy. But it doesn't mean that you have to change who you are and change your life. But It also depend on how old you are..I mean if your too Young, surely they will be worrier. So you don't get hooked up with the wrong guy. But if your old enough..You have to do what you got to do.Your are a girl and you do need a guy. Its the nature.
so good luck.

If they don't like the real you, they're not really friends with "you" are they? You gotta be real!
The Earth needs people to make more people. That involves hanging out around members of the opposite persuasion, a.k.a. boys. This is totally natural and okay!!

It's VERY normal for teens to find the opposite (or same, if they are gay) sex appealing at some point. That's not conforming, it's just how Nature designed humans to be.

For someone who is just starting to like boys, your grammar and vocabulary seem very advanced... how old are you?
