I understand that they're providing a service, but that is the whole job...they are getting paid to make the coffee and put it on the counter and call your name out. They get an hourly wage for this don't they?

I used to. Then I realized they are not giving me refills, asking if it taste alright, and seeing me for more that 5 minutes. Then you add in how much the coffee costs in the first place. Add a tip on top of that and your paying $6 for a cup of coffee!

I think we need to draw a line in the sand. It's customary to tip restaurant servers and beauticians but there are lots of service people who don't get tipped... sales staff, & bank employees for example. Some of these people give exceptional service and aren't paid very well but we wouldn't think of tipping them

I don't tip unless I have a very large order or lots of special requests - warmed-up muffins, other food, skinny half-caf no-foam sugar free hazelnut latte, etc.

No. I only tip service. I tip the burrito lady though because it takes skill to make a proper burrito.

We still tip although they are getting payed. You never know when that very tip may have provided a single parent enough gas to get back to work the next day.My daughter worked as waitress. It's a kind gesture, and is appreciated most of the time.

Yes, but unfortunately we have become a society where most people EXPECT these things, and don't work for them at all.

You should tip, not much, but something.
