The silliest myth would be the "Iron shirt technique" where you supposedly train your body to prevent sharp weapons and even bullets from penetrating your skin.

The most believed myth I think has to be that a Buddhist monk from India named Damo invented Shaolin kung fu. He merely taught the monks some calesthenics or physical exercises to strenghten their bodies which have grown weak from sitting all day while meditating.
The Shaolin fighting arts evolved from the former warriors and fighters who joined the Shaolin temple and became monks when they retired from a life of violence or to avoid prosecution from the government by seeking sanctuary and hiding in the temple.

I train in Kyokushin and for me the silliest myth has to be the myth that a single strike to the body can kill someone or explode someones heart and the most believed would be the myth every dojo or gym has, that their martial art is better than anyone elses because of (insert excuse here)

1.) The silliest for me is what seems to be popular here: chi strikes.

2.) The most believed myth would probably be "9/10, 4 out of 5, 85%, (insert figure here) fights end up on the ground."

Well, does that factor in aspects such as falling down, tripping, and/or police officers making arrests (as their goal is to take the suspect down for restraining purposes)? Where did this figure come from? When was it taken? Does it pertain to all fights, or just MMA? Etc. Blanket statements tend to not ring true.

The idea that martial arts will make you into a super fighting machine and that if you just choose the right style, you'll be able to easily defeat multiple opponents with weapons.

Excuse me, Jean-Claude, but what if these multiple opponents with weapons have spent some time thinking about how to use them themselves?

Wow Idai..

I guess policemen, bouncers, orderlies, Trouble Children's Home workers, Military Policemen, are all in for a world of trouble according to you..

Personally speaking (since it is impossible and all) I have easily and safely restrained at least a dozen people and have the police reports to prove it. Many of which not requiring me to render the person unconscious.

My College girlfriend worked with trouble kids (She was a elite level National Judo competetor) worked with troubled teens, and restrained them on her own (many times massively outweighed) and in fact develop a system for doing so that she continued to teach and develop certifications for.

I am sure MANY Law Enforcement officers can also attest to restraining individuals on their own.

To me Silliest Myth.

1. Chi and Ninjas.

2. Chi manipulation and Ninjitsu are real.
