I have several Yorkies that have the same problem. Vitamin B helps keep them calm. You might also try Rescue Remedy. It is an herbal solution from Bach's Flower Remedy. If it is really bad, talk to your vet about acepromizine. That has helped us through a few storms as well. I would be happy to go into it further if you want to email me at alpha.dog8@yahoo.com.

Try going to WalMart and buying a CD that has nothing but thunderstorms on it. Play it real low at home and while it's on play with your dog. Keep the interactions all positive. Slowly, over a couple days to a week turn up the volume until it's fairly loud, like a real storm. This will help condition your dog to thunderstorms and make them alot less scarey. Good luck! =)

Whatever you do don't say "it's ok or it's alright" as it makes them believe that there's something to worry about.
Try playing with the dog when it's thundering or giving him/her treats so that they associate the noise with something positive.
I have a little Yorkie, never had that problem with him. He's such a little sweetie .....don't know how I ever lived without him. Good luck.

My dog is also scared of thunder. I use an herbal product for sleeping called Melatonin. Make sure you ask your vet for the right dosage because your Yorkie is so small.

It is not uncommon for a dog of any kind to be scared of thunder, find a way to keep your dog calm during thunderstorms. I used to bring my dog in my room with me or he would bark all night or untill it would stop storming.

my cuzin's dog is scared of thunder too. she shakes and wimpers whenever it storms. but you know its like a kid afraid of the dark, sometimes they grow out of it. theres not much you can really do, i mean, to a dog it probably sounds like a giant is walking down the street!! just stay with your dog and pet him/her and speak in a calm voice. maybe when your dog gets very scared you can give them their favorite treat or try to play with a toy. i dont think theres anyway to erase their fears completely

A very easy thing to do is put peppermint oil on his large pad on both front paws. It has a very calming effect.
