The shifter has a second cable that releases the key only in park pull up on the shifter surround just ahead of the shifter the smaller cable needs to be pulled rear ward that will release the key. Now what caused it to get sticky or out of adjustment?

While the car is off and in park, turn the steering wheel and the key and the same time. It should unlock then.

easy........grab a can off key lubricant or WD40, spray the key hole.. grab a pair of pliers and PULL!!!!
if the barrel has a lock tape it up then try again, sounds to me that you put the key in upside down (common with autos)

i did that on me ford and ping out it came..if you dont want to do this you may have to buy a whole new ignition barrel which may cost a bit, so hey what other choice do ya have...goodluck , oh yer dont forget to rattle....rattle....rattle.....seeya

There is a 30 amp fusable link that feeds power to the ignition switch. Make sure this link is not blown, it is under the hood.
