We are trying to figure out how to blur or soften the edges of a picture in Photoshop. We want the edges to gradually fade out to white while the majority of the picture remains intact. How should we go about doing this??

Select the Brush tool and use a soft large brush with white as the foreground color and simply paint the edges white.

Make the image window bigger (by dragging the edges) to give a nice gray area around the actual image itself. This makes it easier to work on the edges.

I use Adobe Photoshop at work, version 7.0. Once your photo is open in Photoshop, click on FILTER from the top menu. Then select BLUR. By left clicking and holding down your mouse, you can blur the the photo by passing the pointer over the desired area. The more times you pass over the picture with your mouse, the more it will blur.

There should be a tool along the edge (i dont remember) is like a dropper of some sort or just put your cursor over it to find it
