I wear one under my shirt as a reminder to me. It's not to show other people, or for fashion. It's to remind me that Christ died, Christ was resurrected, and that Christ will come again. It reminds me that the Holy Spirit is always with me, even when I may not realize it.
Godspeed.

Well, true Christians do not wear a cross for a necklace because they know that Jesus actually died on a stake, not a cross. This means his arms were above his head when he died, not spread across on a cross.
Those that wear a cross nowadays, as you can see, have nothing godly about them, and I'm namely referring to all the rap stars, the rock stars, and other immoral groups where their professions are questionable, and in entertainment. They wear crosses because they think "they fit in and it's cool". They don't have a clue about what it means to truly serve God and live their lives in harmony with truthful Bible standards. It's just all a gimmick or "sham" to these ones.
Others who do believe in God and wear crosses need to be corrected on why they wear an emblem or symbol that is not representative of the true nature of Christ or true holiness. Do we see everyone running around wearing "stakes" or blinging stakes? No.
It's just not "fashionable".

Dear friend,
if you want a true answer, it is this:-
the symbolic reason why Chirstians wear a cross is to realise and remeber that someone died for us. it is to remeber that he died for our sins. real chirstians wear it to remember the sacrifice again and again so that they don't commit any sin.
another meaning of cross is killing of ego. if you cancel the letter 'I' (I in I am) with a horizontal line. it becomes a cross. so cancelling I, which stands for ego makes you humble.
Unfortunately , these days people wear it just for fashion. I dont mind it. but people are not behaving like humans too. they are becoming animals. You can make that out of the beautiful responses you got. Some hate christ for no reason (i dont know how he ruins their life though he died 1000 yrs ago)
I am not a chirstian

Christians wear crosses because they haven't come up with a decent "secret-handshake" yet.

Bill Hicks said it perfectly: "A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. Do you think when Jesus comes back he ever wants to see a f****n' cross? It's kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on."

Yea when Jesus comes back I think the last thing he will want to see is a bunch of little crosses hanging around peoples neck. They will be the first he cast into hell fire.

The only significance I have been able to determine is that it reveals their belief in christianity. That's OK with me. I see it as an antonym of the tattooed number put on the jewish people whom the germans tried to eradicate.

I think if Jesus came back that's the LAST thing he'd want to see? WHat if he'd been hanged? Would people wear little silver nooses around their necks?
