Abdul - How can this be taken out of context? Three clear steps when you have a wife who isn't listening to you. Why are you so afraid of the truth? What would you do if some man did this to your sister or daughter simply because Allah said he could?

Koran 4:34 -
Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allâh has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allâh and to their husbands), and guard in the husband's absence what Allâh orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband's property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see illconduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allâh is Ever Most High, Most Great.

If you are a wise man you do not have to hit your wife for any reasons. But if your wife is to sick to understand your wisdom you should have a mediators to solve the conflict and if did not workout you should ask for divorce. Thank God for Islam
