...my name would be "i Vote 4 funny (atheist)"
I constantly see people inaccurately assuming the religion or belief of another person and then questions never get answered as they would have been. In fact, I've seen confusion of a person's beliefs cause people to completely misinterpret their question or answer. I think we all have. Haven't you?
I wonder if making what you are absolutely obvious would help the R&S community make progress toward the end of mutual understanding and acceptance. Or if that would just take some of the fun out of it.
I guess you could always add a statement to the end of your question like, "but that's just hypothetical, because I don't believe in that," or something along those lines, but I think constantly using qualifiers is, well, kind of gay.
What do you think?

Is your opinion "I don't think it's anyones business what you are?"
Then you have thin skin, hon. And you're probably paranoid too. :)

"Honey not at all, do you need to state if you are black or white or red or yellow?"
If you were in a "race" section, this could be relevant. However, it's not really a good comparison because race does not designate any certain way of thinking, however, religious belief has a strong influence. Don't you think?

For those of you who don't know, "kind of gay" can be considered slang for "kind of dumb." Not that I feel that way about gays, of course. :P There's no correlation.

"Sometimes I won't mention Mormon or LdS to avoid the plague of "thumbs down"."
Sorry that some people feel empowered by that. Hopefully it will help to know that I (an atheist) only give thumbs depending on the answer, not the answerer (even if I have a personal dislike of the answerer).

I understand where you're coming from, but I'm not sure if it's practical. Most of us, including those who are members of a specific denomination or sect, have unique opinions which vary (or go beyond) that which our religion professes.
Also, I may want to change the level of detail of my identity based on the given question. I self-identify as Christian (religion), Mormon (denomination), and LdS (sect). I normally specify one of those in my answers based on how common that particular belief (the one expressed in my answer) is. Sometimes I won't mention Mormon or LdS to avoid the plague of "thumbs down".
BTW, the use of the word "gay" to mean "lame" is so 1980s.

Why did you use 'kind of gay'? What does that mean? Don't like the sound of it. At any rate, no because many of our beliefs are far too complex to boil down into one word. At least mine would be. Also, when you're on here long enough you get to know what the regulars believe after a while. I don't think it's necessary.
Why is it thin skinned? You really shouldn't attack responders. You asked the question.

an earthly state. A theocracy may be undesirable, there may be battling over which faith is in potential. An atheist state might ban freedom of religion, some thing i do no longer accept as true with (an i'm an agnostic atheist). an earthly state may be high-quality, like we've. the only concern is distinctive communities questioning they must get specific therapy.

Yeah, sure, and also the degree of religiosity, as I've been saying. And not just here in Y!A, but in real life as well. It should be printed on our drivers licenses or social security cards. This would help keep the religious fanatics away from normal people. I foresee a time when there will be signs up around the place that read; "This a level 5 and above religious persons restricted area. Anyone caught in this area who is above a level 5 religious person will be immediately apprehended and face prosecution."

I think it would be hard to define what a person believes in just a sentence or two. I mean, how would you list everything??? and certain labels automatically make people assume certain things about you.
Would you have categories about all the major issues... would you have to answer questions like...
..how do you feel about gays?
...what about political affiliation?
..is abortion okay?
...euthenasia?
...religious preferences - what if you are just sorting through this?
Plus, wouldn't this set you up to be targeted by those who disagree with your position?
I think if you want to go into all this you should be on myspace.

Nah, I automatically get thumbs down whenever I reference to being a non-theistic Pagan. It's better for my self-esteem to leave well enough alone.
If the question doesn't require it, then why force the issue? It just makes people judge the person answering rather than the actual answer.

I've started stating my position - at least on one question - and think it's a good idea. On answers, it depends on whether the answer is clearly in line with my position or not.
I don't use it in my avatar name as I think some people thumbs down automatically on it and I'd really like them to read the answer before judging it - thinking about it would be too much to ask.

People sometimes make stupid remarks because they think I'm Muslim, but I don't mind. It shows who the bigots are. Oddly, nobody comments on my Communist beliefs, even though they're pretty obvious from my ID. You'd think I'd get a lot of abuse from that, but it's never materialised.
Anyway, I think it's better to take people on their own merits rather than the group they're lumped into.

I don't think it's anyones business what you are. Honey not at all, do you need to state if you are black or white or red or yellow? No babe, I don't agree with you, just as most here don't. But isn't it true you shouldn't base your opinion of anyone on their religion creed or color? Or does that not ring a bell to you? In other words dear, it is relevant.
