what are your colors? and red can be worn tastefully as well now if she's wearing a sequined red dress that shows more cleavage than the bridesmaids then maybe go with a different dress. She can wear white too (ONLY if its ok with you), or a cream dress. But you might want to stick close to your colors or the colors that will be at the wedding. Good Luck! and Congratulations!

Two things that my daughter and I considered when I was MOB were what color complimented my coloring and also complimented the colors used in her wedding.
Can you get fabric swatches for the bridesmaid dresses, the wedding dress, and any colors being used in the flowers or reception decorations. It is much easier to find things that compliment when you carry swatches with you as you shop.
Here are some ideas, but you still must consider the things I posted earlier:
Rose, Mauve, Silvery Gray, Sage, Pewter, Slate, Navy, Midnight blue, Teal, or the darker Green already mentioned if this is a December wedding.
Champagne, Peach, Antique Gold, Coral, Bronze.

Is red your only color scheme? Usually the mother of the bride dresses in a conservative color or beige or cream but that does not mean it has to be that way. Find a color that compliments red and you should be fine. It also depends on the color of red. Is it bright or dark? Are there tints of another color in the dresses? If there are then you could go with that color. Try www.theknot.com for suggestions also. Good luck.

Whatever looks good on her. Some people can wear red - others look awful in it.
How about taking her out to lunch so you two can pick an appropriate dress - maybe one that compliments the bridesmaids...

Silver or gray could be pretty, depending on her complexion. If the wedding is in December, Hunter Green could be festive, with the holidays coming up (red and green being traditional Christmas colors).

Depends on time of year, what the other mother(s) are wearing. My first thought was navy blue or cream.

Do you have another color in your wedding? Try that. Or red will work fine.
