Hello I am 15 and am thinking about my future I live in Britain but am also an american citizen and to be honest I'm fed up.
Right now I'm having a battle inside me for my political views and I am fed up with Britain.
There are too many neds, no one can act european without being called racist,pc bull is all over the place. Everybody is consumerist and un happy and it makes me SICK!
I don't know whether to stay the course or move.
I so want to live in a polite european, socailist, christian place but I don't know where to go.
Should I stay here,go to canada/usa/australia/new zealand or move to mainland euope.
Help?

If you have a ticket to get you into America use it ! I would move there tomorrow. The quality of life you can 'achieve' there is incredible.

First off, you are mostly correct about life in the UK.. It IS getting worse..
However, at 15 how do you know it is better anywhere else..

The main reason that People don't like to be though of as "European" is that we had no choice in the issue, it was forced onto us by politicians with there own agenda's..
Very few British citizens want to give up our Name, Flag, Currency.. Read your history books, we fought 2 world wars to prevent becoming a part of some "European community" (Albeit headed by Germany, Oops they have a very large say in Brussels!)
You say that you are an American Citizen? Why are you in the UK anyway? Do you hold Dual citizenship?
May i just ask what you think a "Christian" place is? Shouldn't we welcome and be polite to all people of ALL religions?? or am i reading a different bible again???

Britain's government is run by the labour party (Socialists)
Britain is a christian country (C of E)
Britain is no less "Polite" than anywhere else
As far as Europe goes, stuff them.. We'd be better without them, F*****g cowards...

I think you will find that it's not going to be very easy to emigrate to Australia or New Zealand. It normally isn't very easy to get into Canada, either, but as a US citizen, you make take advantage of NAFTA if you get a reasonably good education and then get a job offer.

The way you are using the word European, I am taking it that you mean it in the sense of having traditionally European values, rather than being in Europe.

I think you will find that the extremely antisocial segment of society is much larger and harder to avoid in Britain than in nearly any other country. People in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand are universally friendlier and more polite than Europeans. The United States and Ireland are probably the most religious western countries, and also probably the least socialist. Which country would be best for you will depend on which of these issues are priorities to you.

America has a lot of problems. It's politics are more extreme than here in Britain and America's are very, very consumerism orientated. They're quite false in many ways, have a nice day and all that, but, they are into looking at things positively while in Britain we look at things primarily in a negative way. There's a higher standard of living and pay in America and Canada. If you're considering Canada the west coast, British Columbia, is not very good for jobs. I lived in Canada, near the US/Canada border for 10 years in the 80's. Britain is not the land of opportunity. Good Luck where ever you go.

You're thinking about emigrating to America?! America is WAY more consumerist than the UK! My God, over there even being ill and needing hospital treatment is seen as a "purchase"! You are a customer/consumer not a patient!

I have to say I find it odd that at fifteen you have the option of choosing, but good for you. I'm in sympathy with your feelings about Britain- it usedto be a Great country- I don't know how it all went wrong. New Zealand always sounded good to me if they will take you- I'm too old with not enough money to get in. Good Luck

Leave, leave now while you can! Get out while you still have your sanity. Go, go!
I'm serious, if you have the chance to go somewhere else that will make you happier then go. But remember that people are the same all over the world and the grass isn't always greener on the other side. Good luck though, whatever you decide to do.
